Pretending to ignore her to see if that helps
- By Abbeypap [gb] Date 18.02.09 20:55 UTC
Nature will take it's course, whether your there or not.  Just more exciting for you when you are.
- By ANNM172 [gb] Date 18.02.09 20:56 UTC
Moe liquid but think it is wee as she is trying to push
- By Abbeypap [gb] Date 18.02.09 20:57 UTC

- By Elvee Date 18.02.09 22:11 UTC
Amazing!!I couldn't believe how my girl knew exactly what to do,or how mobile the pups were straight after the birth, seeking out the teats and latching on.Incredible.
- By Papillon [gb] Date 18.02.09 22:13 UTC
A wonderful thing to see indeed, very moving, I love every minute :-)

- By Elvee Date 18.02.09 22:16 UTC
I loved the whole experience, from the conceiving, the pregnancy, birth, rearing the pups, seeing them go to their new homes, getting photos of them settled and happy.I feel lost now,but we've kept one ourselves and still have one to home,so still have work to do.
- By Emz77 [gb] Date 18.02.09 22:17 UTC
I have been up the last 2 nights, was posting at 3 ish am this morning, so I am hoping that it isn't another late one lol....these aren't even my pups and I am tired ;-)

Just had a text from Ann, her girls contractions are getting weaker.
She has spoken to her vet and he is advising her now, helps a great deal
that he himself breeds dogs so really knows how quickly it can go pear shaped.
She will let us know in the morning how it has gone.

Thinking about you Ann.
- By Papillon [gb] Date 18.02.09 22:24 UTC
Best of luck Ann x

Goodmorning Everyone

Just had a text from Ann, Mischa has had two bitch pups one at 5.5oz and the other 2.5oz and she didn't have to go to the vet.  As you can imagine she is a little concerned about the little one feeding and trying now to get her on the teat.  Ann will post later and let us know how it's going.

Joan
- By Papillon [gb] Date 19.02.09 07:36 UTC
Big Congratulations Ann :-)

I'm so glad she had them naturally :-)  one of my boys was born at 2.5 ounces and now he is a thriving and quite lanky lad of 4 months.

Thankyou for letting us know Joan.
- By Abbeypap [gb] Date 19.02.09 07:40 UTC
we can all take a breath now and go Awwwwwwwwww Well done.

My boy Domino came into the world at 2oz.
- By Papillon [gb] Date 19.02.09 07:41 UTC
Yes definitely a sigh of relief :-) I bet Ann is shattered this morning!
- By ANNM172 [gb] Date 19.02.09 08:17 UTC
Hi All

A challenging first litter - Big pup was first and I had to pull her out to big screas from Mischa but knew it had to be done.
3 hours later tiny pup followed and has been quite cold but have her heated up now.
They are trying to feed but not sure what they are getting
Mum a bit enthusiastic with cleaning and keeps knocking little one off by licking her.
There may still be a pup inside so off to vet at 9am for scan and oxytocin which he says will also help with milk
Just really hoping all will be ok

Will keep you posted - Thanks for all the support.
- By white lilly [gb] Date 19.02.09 08:21 UTC
this is wonderful news :):):) ....and as yvonne as said dont worry to much about her weight she will soon start to put it on she just might take alittle longer to get latched on !

and now the fun starts ;)

well done xx
- By white lilly [gb] Date 19.02.09 08:23 UTC

Hi Ann, always a long labour if first puppy is big, will look in later to see what the vet says, well done to you and Mischa :-)
- By ANNM172 [gb] Date 19.02.09 08:34 UTC
Hi yes scan said 4 but vet said lots can change - pups can be reabsorbed etc.
I think there is still one though either that or a swelling behind the vulva

Update you all later

Pups tucked in and cosy at the minute
- By white lilly [gb] Date 19.02.09 08:37 UTC
yes very true about pups being reabsorbed ....but from what your saying it does sound like 1 still there ...bless her xx
- By Teri Date 19.02.09 09:47 UTC
Hi Ann

best wishes for everything going well if there is another puppy there and I hope with lots of TLC the little one grows from strength to strength.

Teri  :)

- By ANNM172 [gb] Date 19.02.09 14:34 UTC
Hi all

Well what a first experience- Was 3 hours at vet.
He said he could feel a pup- confirmed it by scan and said was still alive
He gave oxytocin but to no avail then went for surgery to get pup out
Opened her up and no pup there so have brought her home stitched up and am £250 worse off for my experience
Am exhausted now.
Big pup feeding well - little one trying but keeps falling off- not crying though
- By frenchy [gb] Date 19.02.09 14:55 UTC
hi, i have been silently following your thread and well done on the two little babies. but how can the vet feel and then confirm by scan a puppy and then put the poor little mum through a c section ( life threatening on its own) only to find no puppy! i would have been absolutely mad to be honest and probably even contested the vet bill!
- By frenchy [gb] Date 19.02.09 14:57 UTC
sorry, just read your thread again and the scan even confirmed the puppy was alive! unbelievable :-(
- By SharonM Date 19.02.09 15:05 UTC
I've just read all the way through this thread and am absolutely horrified at the fact your vet opened her up for no reason, after telling you he had seen a live pup :(
- By Romside [gb] Date 19.02.09 15:12 UTC
If i were you id like to know why he claimed she still had a pup and it was ALIVE too when there was nothing.he has put you and her through un needy stress.and youe had to pay him too! hmm id be looking around for a new vet.
this is terrible i cannot belive he confirmed pup was alive!
i wish your pups and mum all the best.you must have been besides yourself.
enjoy the babies youve got and hope mum and pups are doing well.xxx
- By frenchy [gb] Date 19.02.09 15:21 UTC
have you paid the vet bill yet? i would definately not and even ask for some compensation for putting my little girl through a needless and very dangerous situation:-(
- By white lilly [gb] Date 19.02.09 16:24 UTC
hi ann thats just horrible your poor girl and you :(....i wouldnt pay the vet :(

good luck to your girl and her beautiful butterflys xxx
- By ANNM172 [gb] Date 19.02.09 16:24 UTC
I have paid the bill but plan to contest it properly when I have had some sleep and can write an appropriate letter.
For now just want to get pups sorted.
