I would firstly say get in touch with a few breeders on the breed listings here and compare and cross reference what you get from each one.
Buy plenty of books on the breed its self, on puppy handling and training and socilising your dog.
Go to some Weimaraner shows and see the dogs in action and speak to people who show them and maybe breed them as well as they will know about the health defects side but as far as I know they are healthy dogs just need the basic health testing which is usually clear by birth.
Thats all I can offer as I dont have or know anyone with the breed personally :)
We researched for 2 yrs before getting our boy (Stafford) and he was well worth the wait :)
