
I have a long coated breed too .They are very clean but can still get a little grubby around the rear ,you are doing the right thing with warm water ( I use the strong kitchen roll but no soap ) then dry thoroughly ,for the hocks if they are yellowing just give a dip in a bowl with some shampoo to keep them clean and prevent staining.
After the season is over you could trim the private area to keep it clean .
