Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Trade stand at WKC charging twice
- By peanuts [gb] Date 16.08.08 12:14 UTC
One of the trade stands at the WKC are putting credit card details through twice and are only giving the money back if you notice on your statement.
The email that i had said that they have been doing this at all champ shows this year.
The police have been informed.
Not sure i can put which stand so if you pm me i will let you know.

I've had this email a couple of times this week. If it is true, this trade stand is well known, and goes to open and champ shows, they sell to alot of the showing fraternity, they may as well sell up now! If not, I hate to think the damage done to the business.
- By Dill [gb] Date 16.08.08 12:41 UTC
Did the e-mail come from someone you know and trust?   Otherwise it could simply be someone trying to discredit them and take their trade ;)    If so, surely it comes under the libel laws?
- By HuskyGal Date 16.08.08 12:51 UTC Edited 16.08.08 12:56 UTC
Going along the same line as Dill above, I would advise you Peanuts not to do this;

> Not sure i can put which stand so if you pm me i will let you know

It may be more prudent, for now, to simply remind folk that is prudent to always check receipts at point of purchase and especially before signing..... as we all should where ever and when ever making any purchase, and to check bank statements (which many of us forget from time time) :)

forewarned is always forarmed..but you'd be better for your sake but also this website's owners! to be sure of what your saying.
Chinese whispers can often turn a molehill into a mountain.

Unfortunately it is true, lots of people in Obedience & Agility have been stung by this man, some more than once after buying goods vis debit/credit card with him. I understand that banks are now involved

Unfortunately the double charging is done after the valid payment & some on another day !
- By HuskyGal Date 16.08.08 12:58 UTC
your too quick Moon! lol I had realised that and was in process of editing as you must have been typing :-D

My point remains...... anything you 'alledge' can affect the owners of this site, it is pertinent we are mindful of that.
- By Houndlover [gb] Date 16.08.08 15:13 UTC
This news has been on UK Showdogs (yahoo groups) website this past week.
When I was at the show yesterday I warned people I knew to pay cash only.
- By ClaireyS Date 16.08.08 17:37 UTC
could someone PM me which stand, I was double charged by one at an open show at the beginning of the year, I phoned the guy up and was reimbursed the same day - he said it was an error with his card reader.
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 16.08.08 18:25 UTC
Think it may be the same one ClaireyS as it looks as though they've done open shows.
- By Star [in] Date 16.08.08 18:30 UTC
Please can someone PM me too as I have some shopping to do at Builth 2moz
- By judgedredd [gb] Date 16.08.08 18:52 UTC
on the agility websites we have been warned about this , and if it is the same person people are being asked to report to trading standards

I had this happen to me earlier in the year and got my money back no problem via the bank when I noticed the double payment.
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 16.08.08 19:31 UTC
If they are doing this at every show and to a number of people then they should be stopped.  Not everyone looks at their bank statements rigourously, I know that I for one don't!
- By The dachsie lad [gb] Date 17.08.08 06:30 UTC
Hi there

This is very worrying.  I haven't had the experience but would appreciate it if you could pm me the name so I don't get stung.  I have quite a lot of shopping to do at Richmond.

thanks.

well i dont know who it is but i will say this......i changed my credit card reader over a couple of months ago to the wireless type so that i could use it on gps at shows and events......ever since then i have had loads go through twice and its highly embarassing as the 1st i ever know about it is when people ring me to tell me!!! there is a problem with the card machine as it seems to store some transactions if there is a weak gps signal....and put them through a 2nd time up to a month later. So please bear this in mind as it may just be genuine.
- By Moonmaiden Date 18.08.08 09:06 UTC
But this is happening at every show & there are other payments being made from people's cards. I understand that this trader often packs up early at non champ shows in order to evade the pitch fee !!
- By ClaireyS Date 18.08.08 09:31 UTC
I think the problem is he is usually half p#ssed !!!
- By Moonmaiden Date 18.08.08 09:48 UTC

could someone pm me to please as i have a lot of shopping to do at Richmond and i've been saving all year for it so i dont what to be charged twice.
Cheeky so and so's
- By ice_queen Date 18.08.08 17:23 UTC
I heard about this too and it's been happening along time.  I must say I know who it is in question and I'm not surprised.  I've never liked him for some reason and have never brought anything from him.

He seems to be happy refunding money quickly for those that pick it up but then again...Whats the point in arguing and he must have enough people not noticing to become quids in!
- By Tee Gee [gb] Date 18.08.08 17:33 UTC
Can you pm me please as i am shopping at richmond  and need to know if to take cash if its a stall i will use  Thanks
- By ClaireyS Date 18.08.08 17:47 UTC
it happened to me back in January.  Must admit I still use him because its the only place I can get alot of stuff.

Why cant we say who it is on here ?

The above (Moonmaiden's post) is taken from doggysnacksshack's websitehttp://www.doggysnackshack.com/info2.cfm?info_id=84977

It does appear that the owner is trying to do something about the problem.

I did suspect this company was the one (many thanks to those who pm'd me).

I have regularly bought stuff from them BUT always paid cash.

- By crinklecut [gb] Date 21.08.08 17:03 UTC
There is a piece in one of the dog papers this week also saying the same thing, seems he is trying to remedy the situation.
- By ice_queen Date 21.08.08 18:48 UTC

>I was double charged by one at an open show at the beginning of the year

>WITHIN THE LAST 3 MONTHS

Sorry but is my maths that bad?

Of course I do not yet know it's the same person so I'm sure I will be corrected if wrong....
- By dollster [gb] Date 24.08.08 15:12 UTC
Its happened to several friends of mine,
one whos money was taken 3 times, 1 week apart and another whose was taken daily 3 times.

Excellent products, but i pay cashnow
- By suejaw Date 26.08.08 18:27 UTC
The company have actually put a notice in the recent Our Dogs paper about this and asked for all to contact them who have had a problem.

Funny that after they had been slated on every dog forum.

I noticed that the stand wasn't very busy on Sunday.
