- By Blue Date 17.03.08 14:32 UTC
I know someone of you just adored this couple ;-)  so here is the published settlement

£24.3m

http://uk.news.yahoo.com/skynews/20080317/tuk-heather-mills-awarded-23-4m-45dbed5.html

I may have put up with him for a couple of years for that amount. Not sure about her though ;-)
- By Oldilocks [ir] Date 17.03.08 14:37 UTC
It is the child I feel sorry for!
- By Freds Mum [gb] Date 17.03.08 14:38 UTC
"Ms Mills said she was 'very very very' pleased"

So would i be with that much money in the bank for absolutely nothing.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 17.03.08 15:06 UTC

>So would i be with that much money in the bank for absolutely nothing.

Too right! His fortune was built long before he met her - probably before she was even born! So to claim any right to it is downright gold-digging.

I hope it's all put in trust for their daughter.
- By Oldilocks [ir] Date 17.03.08 15:13 UTC Edited 17.03.08 15:16 UTC
I think that she would have been better thought of had she asked for nothing!  Billie Piper claimed nothing of Chris Evans' fortune and she has done really well for herself since through her own efforts and is better thought of by everyone!
- By Freds Mum [gb] Date 17.03.08 15:20 UTC
Although i suppose Paul isnt completely innocent. Think he's gone down in peoples estimations aswell. hes come across as a silly old man. everyone warned him yet he didnt make her sign a pre-nup. Hope he's learnt his lesson & others will hopefully learn from his mistake.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 17.03.08 15:21 UTC

>everyone warned him yet he didnt make her sign a pre-nup.

I suppose that was because he trusted her. It'd be a dreadful shame if everyone thoguth a pre-nup was essential. :-( Incredibly callous - why bother marrying if you don't trust your partner?
- By Freds Mum [gb] Date 17.03.08 15:24 UTC
true, but if i met a man that had that much money i woud be fine with signing a pre nup.Wouldnt dream of taking money that was earnt before i met him. Like wise i would expect someone to sign one if i were to get married and have that much money in the bank (i wish :-) )
- By Oldilocks [ir] Date 17.03.08 15:32 UTC
He should have listened to his children, they sussed her out a long time ago.........or so it seems!  :)
- By hebeboots [gb] Date 17.03.08 17:11 UTC
I just heard a radio interview with her, having a good rant about how she's pleased with the amount but it does mean her daughter will no longer be able to fly first class with that low amount (???) She then went on to break down all the costs of flying first class for her daughter and that she's saddened that it's no longer to be.....

Give me strength.
- By briedog [gb] Date 17.03.08 17:42 UTC
i bet she very very very please i would be as well
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 17.03.08 18:09 UTC
Just listening to her interview on TV ...I feel sorry for the poor daughter, apparantly she will end up with only 35k a year to live on ....hmmm ...me and Stephens combined wages are only 32k and we bloody work HARD for that AND we keep two kids and 3 dogs and a mortgage going

I just lost all respect for her
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 17.03.08 18:15 UTC
She's on another planet isn't she?
- By spiritulist [in] Date 17.03.08 18:31 UTC
Your all being very unfair. She has worked very hard, if the papers are to be believed.......at nabbing a fool with money!
- By Oldilocks [ir] Date 17.03.08 18:43 UTC
"I just lost all respect for her".........only just Melodysk?  :)  :)
- By pinklilies Date 17.03.08 19:13 UTC
I think she deserves all that money...i need more than that to sleep with that ugly old wrinkly :-D
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 17.03.08 19:17 UTC
I'd go against the grain and say good luck to her. Neither of them appeal to me particularly, and have heard that both are horrible/lovely depending on who's talking, but none of us know the truth of it anyway so would take it all with a pinch of salt.

He was old enough to know what he was getting in to, and he chose to have a child with her, so I'd say he got away relatively lightly.

M.
- By ChristineW Date 17.03.08 20:07 UTC
It's worked out she's earned £700 per hour for the time they were married - marginally better than those of us who've worked for the minimum wage!
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 17.03.08 20:37 UTC
I believe that was the amount that he agreed to in the first place, so she's put everyone through the courts to get the settlement that he wanted.

Sorry can't stand her and I hope she does move abroad let some other tax payers pay for her bills.
- By Perry Date 17.03.08 22:52 UTC
pinklillies she is no oil painting herself, PM probably had the pick of many and unfortunatley fell in love with a con artist
- By pinklilies Date 17.03.08 23:15 UTC Edited 17.03.08 23:18 UTC
It was his choice, no one forced him to marry her, or have a child. On his own head be it...he is an adult, resonsible for his own choices, and I dont see why  I should feel sorry for him for making them.....I mean he must be down to his last few tens of millions, how sad.
- By sara1bee [gb] Date 18.03.08 06:46 UTC
wonder if he still has to pay child maintenance as well as this lump sun??
- By cocopop [gb] Date 18.03.08 07:16 UTC
I believe so.
- By craigles Date 18.03.08 07:17 UTC
I thought it was 35k a year for child maintenance, and Bea will have to fly B class while her Father travels A Class!  I think the woman has problems I really do.
- By briedog [gb] Date 18.03.08 07:35 UTC
it want stop there it go on with her story in the paper and his later,

both as bad as each other,
- By Paula20380 [gb] Date 18.03.08 07:54 UTC
I heard her on the radio saying how sad it was for her daughter only getting 35k a year and having to travel B class while her father travels A class but then she said of course she will have to pay to get daughter upgraded.

The stupid woman, she is complaining about 35k a year child maintenance??? She wants to try bringing her child up with no help whatsoever. Which coincidentally she could afford to do with no problems at all after that big payout she got from him.

You can't have respect for somebody that makes a stupid comment like that to the press.
- By Lea Date 18.03.08 08:26 UTC
24 million.
How much interest is that a month.
I could live a very comfortable lifestyle JUST off the interest alone!!!!!!!!!!!

Wouldn't some of PM's vast fortune be from Linda (as one of the Kodak family)?
- By briedog [gb] Date 18.03.08 09:56 UTC
shame about paul barrister hair style before and after.
- By Fluffydog [gb] Date 18.03.08 12:03 UTC
I agree I couldn't live on a mere £24 million.  Oh sorry i forget this is the real world and not planet Heather.

Did they not say that she is to continue fighting for more money for some reason or another (sorry didn't listen properly so could be wrong).

I know people say he is just as bad but i don't remember him shouting and screaming on all the TV programmes about her or flying to the states to air his dirty linen there.
- By Dill [gb] Date 18.03.08 12:03 UTC
On TV earlier the word Deluded was mentioned in connection with HM (not her majesty LOL )  ROFL   think it's significant when the media are using the word :-D :-D
- By LoisLane Date 18.03.08 20:44 UTC
shame about paul barrister hair style before and after.

Ha Ha :-) I was thinking the same.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 18.03.08 22:15 UTC
So ... she got £35,000 a year (plus extras) for their daughter - and she wanted £39,000 a year for WINE!!!
- By CathyMack [gb] Date 18.03.08 22:26 UTC
I'm just hoping that he will now stop dying his grey hair black.....

Silly old g*t - if the rest of the world saw through her, why couldn't he?

Bet he doesn't marry again without a pre-nup.  Lesson learned, Sir Paul?
- By Dill [gb] Date 18.03.08 22:38 UTC
Wonder what state her liver's in?

Watching her on the news tonight I was left wondering if she ever listens to what she's saying? :eyes rolling all over:  :-D
- By shadbolts [gb] Date 19.03.08 10:31 UTC
Wonder what state her liver's in?

That's the thing she asked for loads of money for wine but apparently she doesn't drink.  According to the stuff published the judge didn't think very highly of her
- By Dill [gb] Date 19.03.08 18:17 UTC
From what I saw of the front pages no-one is being very complimentary about her.   Not reading it tho, I know how things are made up and twisted to make a better story ;)
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 19.03.08 18:32 UTC

>Not reading it tho, I know how things are made up and twisted to make a better story

The judge's comments make very enlightening reading!
- By Dill [gb] Date 19.03.08 20:58 UTC
LO wouldn't mind reading those :-D  Just don't want to read all the media stuff ;)
- By jeanb [gb] Date 21.03.08 13:21 UTC
I think she is awful, and shouldnt have custody of that little girl. His lawyer should have her charged with assault after she emptied a jug of water over her. What kind of behaviour is that? She should sue her for the stress and humiliation she caused by her actions. Preferably in the region of £25 million. My sympathies are with Paul. He thought he was getting someone of the same ilk as Linda, but how wrong he was. Every penny of his money was earned long before he met her,so why was she entitled to any of it?
He should only be paying for his child, not that goldigging madwoman.
- By pinklilies Date 21.03.08 14:02 UTC Edited 21.03.08 14:04 UTC
Custody is awarded on the basis of good motherhood...and the judge, and mccartney, and his lawyers have never disputed that she is a good mother. The courts have obviously decided that the child should stay with her mother, and I suggest that YOU do not know enough to make a custody judgement. Fortunately, in this country children are not ripped away from their mothers based on what is printed in the newspapers, nor on say so of those silly enough to believe that newspapers actually give the true facts. IF Heather Mills were truly an unfit mother, then you can believe that the McCartney lawyers would have already made sure that she did not have custody. Chucking a jug of water over someone isnt great I admit, but if children were taken from their parents after every misdemeanour, then about 80 % of children would be in care. Lets face it ,mccartney himself  is a druggie, so in that case why would he be a better option as a parent? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/music/3769511.stm
- By Dill [gb] Date 21.03.08 14:34 UTC
Well the judgement made very interesting reading ;)  The media don't need to dress things up and twist them, the way they do, she was her own worst enemy, simply reporting what was said by the judge would have been enough ;)

Throwing a jug of water over the barrister was very immature behaviour :(  lets hope that she grows up soon.
- By ShaynLola Date 21.03.08 15:44 UTC
£35k a year won't even begin to cover the cost of the therapy that child will need as a result of having HM as a mother! Poor kid.
- By pinklilies Date 21.03.08 16:43 UTC Edited 21.03.08 16:50 UTC
the point I am trying to make is that regardless of what happened in court, or any other behaviours, it does not necessarily mean a person is going to be a bad mother. In the same way that someone who is a genuinely nice person might turn out to be a terrible parent. None of us know what kind of mother she is, but the fact that she has custody would indicate that there is no evidence she is bad. I also think that she is stressed to the point of being ill......and that the water throwing incident is more likely to be related to that than pure bad behaviour. I once got so stressed I became really ill and obsessive so i can sympathise.
It surprises me that people are so quick to judge HM...yet voice support to other parents, the mccanns, who left their children alone. It interests me why people pick and choose in this way....and thats not sarcasm or pointed at anyone in particular. Its just a reflection on how people judge others, but based on inconsistent criteria.

Judgement for those who have not read it but would like to.
- By Angels2 Date 22.03.08 20:13 UTC
I personally don't like media coverage on divorce where children are involved!

No-one knows what is and isn't the truth and that poor child will have to learn about all of this nastiness when she is older. :-(
