Sit in an uncomfortable position so you can hold the puppy or stand and watch while he is peacefully sleeping?  ;)  I just sat on the floor for 20 minutes with a sleeping puppy who is rapidly becoming too big for my lap and only put him down because I was afraid my aching left arm, supporting what felt like most of his weight, might have let go and dropped him.  When he was smaller I sat for a hour once, just holding him.

LOL
That reminds me of when we had our boy as anew pup, I spent so long kneeling on the floor with him that my legs were really stiff and sore!

worst was babysitting when they were just born...sitting in the whelping box so their mum can have a break. you know you shouldn't be touching them, just let them sleep but ohhh...hardest thing ever. There so cute and snuffly and i love the little frogy breaststroke thing they do to move around. part of me wishes they stayed like that (despite the lack of sleep)

I was thinking of posting a similar thread just yesterday!  My little girl is 9 weeks and I sat on the kitchen floor, risking arthritis and piles, with her on my lap, for over half an hour  (I was uncomfortable after 10 minutes).  There is something just so touching about having a tired puppy falling trustingly asleep on you  :)

My youngest is not a puppy anymore but I will still suffer cramp and pins & needles to avoid disturbing her when she falls asleep with her head resting on me when I'm curled up on the sofa :)

:-D  Oh, I was entrigued by your title! :-D

Well, I think I have you all beat, I once took in a little Cocker pup who had been badly treated, she was 14 weeks old, but was the size and weight of a 5 week old pup, she was scared and in a bad way, and whenever I put her down she would shake, I kept that pup in my arms all day, she was put on my lap to eat and visit the ladies :-) she was cradled in my arms all day whilst doing homework with my boys and watching tv and put into my boys arms whilst I cooked, she slept on my neck during the night, I did this for two days until she had the confidence to let me put her down for a little and stay in her own bed.

She was nursed back to health and eventually re-homed to a loving home.

But you can never hold or cuddle a pup too much, and she became a loving confident dog. :-)

My pup has come home from her op. this morning. I've had her on the sofa with me & almost fell of the sofa as she was taking up all  the room! Didn't mind though. :)

I knew everyone would relate.  Now that I think of it I spent more time on the floor, cold, cramped and practically frozen in one position while I tried to gain the trust of a feral wee kitten.  I couldn't look at him and it was a week before I could hold him.  Like Carrington's pup he also grew to be a confident and loving and was rehomed with a friend.

I still do it now even though my dog is 13 months old and getting heavy. I will sit on the sofa with her sprawled across me and my legs going dead because she looks cute!

Still do it with all mine!! Nothing like cuddling up on the floor with them, have been sat cuddling a tired puppy on a freezing cold tiled floor tonight though!!

ok lol now I am jealous, our pups are the same age 12 weeks lol yet mine hardly sleeps, she is really good about not weeing and poohing in the house, but she gets up at half past 4 in the morning we go out in the garden, and when we come back in she will not go back to bed, she runs round and round like something possessed, I am trying to keep her quiet so she doesn't wake up the rest of the household or my other lab darcy 9 months, we try cuddling on the couch but no way, she has just woken up and wants to have fun fun fun lol.  by the time eveyone else is up, she is ready to sleep in her bed and cuddle time is gone as everyone else is now up lol oh well, wouldn't swap her for the world even though we are not getting a full nights sleep.  enjoy your cuddles while you can

Always have, always will - I can spend 20 or 30 minutes with my legs going to sleep or my arm aching madly just to hold my dogs comfortable on the sofa and so they can relax and snooze instead of rolling off because they haven't the sense to lie down more carefully!!

Did that when I brought my dog home from surgery.
She was 16 weeks old, and the whole way to the vets in the morning (had to drive a couple hours) I was like, I dont really want to do this.  If her ears stand by the time I get there, I am turning right around to go home.
Well, we got there, and the dr looked her over, and I signed the piece of paper saying she could get her ears done.
My friends are good friends with the vet, and since they were in the back, the vet let me stand in the back.  I watched them do the surgery, it was horrid.  I tried so hard not to cry.
Then when she came out of anesthetic, all she did was scream.  I lost it.  I started crying.
When I got home, I felt so bad, for putting her through a surgery.  I held her all night long, in my arms.  I didnt go to sleep at all.  I watched her, and kept looking at the stitches on her ears, and thinking, well maybe I shouldnt have had it done.  She was so cute, and now look at her, in pain.
I held her all the time, cuddled, and had very little sleep until her ears healed.

Next pup, I wont be so eager to crop.
