You have to do more than one type of exercise to improve your stomach as supposedly the muscles get used to the one exercise and you don't lose the flab, so we were told once at exercise classes.

Anton and I did our half our jog again last night and I did 60 sit-ups.  Will be going out in a couple of hours with him again today.
- By Angels2 Date 11.01.08 11:34 UTC
Now you are just making me feel terrible! :D
- By MW184 [gb] Date 11.01.08 11:42 UTC
Could you do some sit ups for me next time too - :)
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 11.01.08 11:47 UTC
:d :d  We've just got back from our half our jog and my legs are killing me!  My own fault as I didn't do any warm up.  Going Cani-crossing next weekend so have to try and get slightly fitter!
- By huskypup [gb] Date 12.01.08 15:41 UTC
Well I am an abject failure.  Currently sitting here sucking a blackcurrant and liquorice sweetie and yesterday my OH brought me back some Devon cream fudge.  He is just so supportive, and he complains that he is getting fatter by the week! Ah well start again tomorrow. :)  God knows what size I would be if I didn't run with the dogs in the mornings (especially quick in the pouring rain - lol).
- By Brainless [gb] Date 12.01.08 16:13 UTC
When I lost all the weight last tine that was the bit I couldn't get shot of, I got it after my second pregnancy, even though my stomach looked totally flat, I still had a fold :(  I was able to wear size 10 -12 and still had that, though it is worse now with 6 stone extra.
- By Astarte Date 12.01.08 17:10 UTC
this is why belly dancing is particularly good excersise for ladies, tightens up all the bits we like tight
- By Brainless [gb] Date 12.01.08 17:48 UTC
You can't tighten up the skin completely though, had no problems with the muscles, which is why my belly was flat.  I was doing a lot of work at the Gym to get off the last stone and a half.
- By Tracey123 [gb] Date 14.01.08 09:04 UTC
Astarte I do street and break dancing and that seems to be toning me up - I know there is a 6 pack in there somewhere!!
- By ClaireyS Date 15.01.08 18:31 UTC
Ok, how does everyone think they have done this week ? I had a bit of a wine binge at the weekend so not sure if I have lost anything.
- By LindaMorgan [gb] Date 15.01.08 19:25 UTC
I was a little dissapointed with my 3lb loss, I have stuck to the diet with no pitfalls.  But hey its still 3lb and I'll still keep going.

Linda
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 15.01.08 20:20 UTC
Think I've lost 3lb which again to me is disappointing as I've stuck to healthy eating and quite a bit of exercise.
- By Dogz Date 15.01.08 20:31 UTC
Routine appointment today at the doc's almost got prescribed 'fat busting drug'.
I asked tongue in cheek for one! Then said no.....not really I will just eat less.
Still eating too much......still waiting for my eureka moment!

Karen ;-)
- By ClaireyS Date 15.01.08 21:39 UTC
is that 3lb in a week ? I would be pleased with that :)
- By pavlova [gb] Date 15.01.08 21:42 UTC
Keep of the scales ladies please, only geton them once a week for your official weigh in,
It can be so dissapointing if you think you,ve lost on a monday and then by wednesday the scales say differently .
Its so tempting to keep jumping on the scales but if you only get on once a week you will get a much truer picture of your weight loss.
Trust me,
I,m hoping for big things this week I,ve really tried to get back on track..
Oh I wish I could find the smileys
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 15.01.08 22:31 UTC
Yeah I suppose it is OK but on a similar diet last year I lost 7lb in a week and that was without the exercise!
- By sam Date 15.01.08 23:07 UTC
3lb in 1st week just cutting back on everything a bit.
- By Angels2 Date 15.01.08 23:11 UTC
Right I am definantly starting tomorrow. We will no doubt have a "do" to go to for my husbands work this year and I can't face the thought of being "the fat one"!

Before children never went above 8 and a half stone!!!!
- By ClaireyS Date 16.01.08 06:41 UTC
No change for me this week, I havent been particularly good though, I think I only stuck to it for about 3 days !!

I will be good this week, going to up the exercise too !
- By Tracey123 [gb] Date 16.01.08 09:29 UTC
I get weighed tonight.

The advice about not getting on the scales through the week is very good and one I always stick to! Your body is a strange thing and of course you weigh less in the morning!

I havent been brilliant this week but I have done lots of exercise. Hopefully I might have stayed the same or lost a pound? Will let you know tomorrow!
- By rachelsetters Date 16.01.08 09:38 UTC
Morning fellow diet enthusiasts!!

Well I forgot to weigh in this morning but Monday no change!  Will see how I have done tomorrow but did have a couple of glasses of wine last night.  Have been eating much better and clothes not so tight!

No change is better than weight on.

Well done Dianne with 3lb - don't forget you might be putting muscle on!

Good luck tonight Tracey.
- By Tracey123 [gb] Date 16.01.08 09:40 UTC
Rachel that glass of wine shouldnt affect your weight today. Normally your body is 2 days behind so when I get weighed on a Wed my body is still on Monday (if that makes sense).

Theoretically that means Tuesday doesnt count so I could binge and not gain weight :D
- By rachelsetters Date 16.01.08 09:45 UTC
LOL Tracey - I really shouldn't know that will be bingeing every Monday now - not really but certainly worth remembering!
- By aimibobs [gb] Date 16.01.08 10:29 UTC
Ive lost 2 lb this week so v. pleased
- By Angels2 Date 16.01.08 12:54 UTC
Well done. I can't find anywhere to get weighed at the moment and  don't want to join a slimming club again, but I have been really good today! :-)
- By ClaireyS Date 16.01.08 12:56 UTC
well done everyone :)
- By michelled [us] Date 16.01.08 13:54 UTC
ive lost my 4 xmas pounds, but  stuck now, its very frustrating.Im trying so hard. Im 13 Now & really wanted to be 12 1/2 by end of jan, but dont think that will happen now. Really want to be 12 by crufts.

Finding it so hard!!!!!!
- By Tracey123 [gb] Date 16.01.08 14:06 UTC
Angels have you got a boots or Tesco near you because they have those machines that prints out your weight. It'd be best to go one particular night and wear the same stuff to get a true reading!
- By Jetstone Jewel [ca] Date 16.01.08 14:39 UTC
Well, I'm still wearing the belt I bought several decades ago when I was a skinny teenager and needed it to keep my jeans from falling down.

SIGH, leather stretches.  It reeaaaallllly stretches.  Plus, the belt no longer has any unused holes and I wear it at my waist instead of down lower on my hips.  Same belt though.  ;)
- By ClaireyS Date 16.01.08 14:51 UTC
Michelle, can you think of anything you can change ? make a note of everything you eat in a day and have a look to see what you can cut out.  It might be something really small that will get you back on it again.  It is tough, I would like to be under 10 stone by crufts, thats only 11lb but im struggling :(
- By Angels2 Date 16.01.08 14:57 UTC
No unfortunantly not as I live in Guernsey. We do have a machine in our supermarket but it isn't working!
- By Tracey123 [gb] Date 16.01.08 16:21 UTC
LOL did someone too heavy break it? :-D
- By sam Date 16.01.08 17:37 UTC
cant you just buy a set of scales??
I found this great website www.weightlossresources.co.uk and did the free trial to get all the info......as we live miles from anywhere and plus i dont feel the need for public humiliation weighing :) i have joined them for a couple of months on the basis that spending money will give me more incentive. I have religiously followed their 1200cals a day recomendation and certainly the 1st wek has been a success. Also its useful to look at the graph each night and see how much fat, protein carbs etc my diet is including! And i get a glass of wine every night!!
- By flora2 [gb] Date 16.01.08 18:58 UTC
I know I'm a bit late joining in but I had gained about a stone and a half over the last ten years. I had joined slimming clubs and lost a few pounds only to regain it.
At the beginning of last year a size 8 friend told me what a shame I had let myself go and I would look so much better if I lost some weight. I was shocked but it was the best advice I've ever had. I just stopped pigging out and have lost two dress sizes.
I've had to buy a whole new wardrobe so I know I'll never put it back on.
I now look at food and think would I rather have that cake or my new figure.
- By Angels2 Date 16.01.08 19:20 UTC
Thats great Muffymoo although abit harsh of your friend to say that! But on the other hand it obviously helped you so perhaps honesty is the best policy! :-)
- By abbymum [gb] Date 16.01.08 20:17 UTC
Havent lost any weight but have been good with my exercise walk the kids to and from school, 50 sit ups, 50 squats, 50 press ups and three lots of 30 sec doing the plank everyday, next week I aim to add 20 tricep dips to prevent bingo wings and 30 mins of bag work a day. If I'm not nicely toned by summer I give up.
What exercise has everyone else being doing?
Mary
- By ShaynLola Date 16.01.08 21:02 UTC
Well done everyone! :-D

Not sure if I've lost any weight yet (don't own scales, haven't had time to go looking for a set) but I have cut out A LOT of junk without feeling deprived of anything :)  Even if I haven't lost a significant amount of weight yet, my skin already looks healthier so at least I know something is working :)
- By Lea Date 16.01.08 21:39 UTC
Please remember that Muscles weighs heavier than fat.
So if you ARE INCRESING excersise and healthy eating/dieting/cutting food out and not loosing, then dont get down hearted!!!!
If you can stomach it, take a photo of yourself in underwear every week from the same point, that way you can see the change in your body and not just the weight on the scales!!!!
Also your clothes say it all!!! If you can get into something more comfortably than you have done before  the your body SHAPE could be changing through the muscle!!!
I am the same weight as I was a few weeks after the Great North Run. But I am Flabby and cant get into clothes I have worn for 7 years!!. After the GNR I could wear crop tops and my stomach looked fine. Now I couldnt. But I can still run over 6 miles and average about 10-15 miles a week, increasing again now.
Good Luck everyone :) :) :)
Even us runners battle with our weight :)
Lea who is determined to loose fat and replace it with muscle ASAP and never weighs herself but looks at what my body looks like and what I feel comfortable with :) )

Thanks hun, the food is def down as far as it can go & as healthy as can be, im going to try to up the exercise, its hard with the dogs & all the rain, & i SHOULD be TRAINING them more not exhausting them with hours of walks. Im going to try to get the Strictly Dancercise DVD at end of month (money is SOOOO tight atm) & see if that will help!!!!!!
- By Tracey123 [gb] Date 17.01.08 09:19 UTC
I lost 2 and a half pounds this week. Im really pleased!! :D

Had some low cal potato and leek soup when I got peckish about 9 ish last night and this seems to work for me!
- By pavlova [gb] Date 18.01.08 15:56 UTC
I,m pleased I lost three pounds this week but tonight I,m going out for a meal so could struggle again after it.
I very rarely eat out so will not be on the diet tonight I totally refuse to pay out good money and not be able to eat what I fancy from the menu.
I,ll just get straight back on plan tomorrow hopefully.
- By ShaynLola Date 18.01.08 21:45 UTC
Think I've just blown my 2 weeks of good work.

It's our anniversary today and we couldn't go out like we usually do so I coooked us a meal...scallops & chorizo, followed by herb crusted mackeral with baby spuds and steamed veg with Tiramisu to finish.  How many million calories do you reckon that was? Oh well, I don't care as I enjoyed every bite ;-)
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 18.01.08 22:02 UTC

>Think I've just blown my 2 weeks of good work.

No you haven't!!! Special occasions are always allowed. Tomorrow you're back to the routine - with no guilty feelings!.

The important thing is not to have Special Occasions ;) too often! :-D
- By pavlova [gb] Date 19.01.08 15:56 UTC
special occasions are days for flexible sins and everyone of them should be enjoyed your meal sounds lovely shaynlola wish it was what I had instead od boring old pub grub that ones defenitely on my list of not to eat in again
- By michelled [gb] Date 20.01.08 06:39 UTC
I CANT BELIEVE IT!!!!! the scales havent moved a smidge. they are so wrong!! i look thinner & feel thinner & Clothes are looser...WHY wont they move ,im going NUTS!!!!!!
- By Lea Date 20.01.08 08:19 UTC
Thats the other point. Scales are not always accurate!!!!
Was talking to a mate about this the other day. She weighed herself in the morning. Walked upstairs, went to the toilet if you get what I mean, walked back downstairs, and she had put on 2lbs!!!!!! LMAO
Other thing is, dont move your scales. Put them in one place and leave them there, I dcant remember why, but it is meant to make a difference!!! And also always weigh yourself at the same time, preferably in the morning ;)So its not always a good thing to rely on scales.
If your clothes are feeling looser then you must be loosing, or redistributing weight, or replacing fat for muscle :)
Well Done :)
Lea :)

Haven't weighed myself yet, but going great :-D Have cut back on portion sizes, and am eating a lot more fruit and veg and drinking more water (problem with all that is I'm spending considerably longer on the toilet!). Downside is that because my dog has a torn cruciate ligament I'm not getting much exercise at all, whereas ordinarily we'd be out for up to 2 hours in the morning and an hour in the evening. Thinking about joining freecycle to see if I can get my hands on some exercise equipment!
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 20.01.08 15:10 UTC
Oh well just got back from Cani-Cross.  Really enjoyed it, very slow but knocked off about 4 minutes from last time so the keeping fit must be helping slightly!
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 20.01.08 22:34 UTC
5lbs lost in 2 weeks.
