Yeeeeaaaahhh - how goes it Ali :) :) :)

It's kinda weird here for me too and I've only been absent a few months - keep thinking "I wonder where ....... is?" and then I think better of asking :D

I'm well chuffed with this thread coz by my reckoning I've got one of the least bulges to lose (but was still working on plumping it up this evening with a previously missed strudel   - ye gads but it was so gooooood red hot winter berries, puff pastry and oodles of cals on top in the form of Mackies ice cream :D  I haven't got a hope here  )

Anyway, enough waffling (hmmmm, would they be hot waffles with syrup    I'm off again :D ) Just wanted to say ......"Nice to see you back!"

It's only good to be bad ;)
- By ShadowsMum [gb] Date 07.01.08 13:55 UTC
I gave up smoking for last years resolution.  This year I need to lose all the weight I've gained in the last 12 months due to non smoking.  Might be easier if I just take up smoking again!!!!!
- By Teri Date 07.01.08 14:05 UTC
Ah, you will have issues (coz you've clearly got willpower and that's enviable :D )
Can I interest you in a piece of cake???? Cream with that? extra thick double or squishy from a tin ;)
- By Blue Date 08.01.08 21:04 UTC
Having eaten my body weight in Quality Street, mince pies and cakes over Christmas

Me to :-) Here I am not sure Quality street produced that much sweets for me just now :-D

>Having eaten my body weight in Quality Street, mince pies and cakes over Christmas

:D

I want to lose about a stone and a half. I'm not really overweight per-say but nearing the top end for my height, so on the way to being so. The extra stone and a half has crept on over the last year and looks awful as I only have a small frame. For some reason most of it seems to have gone to my stomach (I keep looking in the mirror from a side view wondering if I'm going to be one of those people who just slip a baby out at any moment, despite having monthly periods ). We still have so much junk left over from xmas, but if I put off trying to eat better until all that food has gone, then some other reason just comes along. We always have some degree of "bad" food in the house (bisuits, ice cream, crisps etc) as everyone else likes the odd treat (it's just me who ends up eating 95% of it ). I think I need to just avoid it totally (I know they say that leads to failure but so does eating a whole pack of biscuits if you find it impossible to just eat one or two ).

21 pounds to lose then
- By huskypup [us] Date 07.01.08 14:58 UTC
Another excuse of mine is that my OH gave up smoking last year and has a bigger sugar dependency that me, hence the amount of cake/biscuits etc in the cupboards.  I long ago banned bathroom scales from my house as I do not believe they are a particularly healthy way to control weight - I developed a fixation and used to weigh myself every few hours, not good.  :(

I think we all know when we are overweight, we just need that lightbulb moment and then heaps of support and encouragement to help us to eat moderately and healthily.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 07.01.08 14:59 UTC
My kids have taken to hiding the goodies else I eat them, but Icecream has to be kept in the freezer so it is banned.
- By michelled [gb] Date 07.01.08 15:11 UTC
i reckon im about a stone lighter than last year, but still need to lose 2 stone, & would LIKE to lose three. Id like to get a stone off before crufts ideally!!!!
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 07.01.08 21:40 UTC

Uh oh, still cant get started.......only on more junk....today it started so well, since a lovely beef stew this evening I have gone on to eat loads of dates, brazil nuts, strawberry (maybe that was cherry) quality streets (all toffees finished). and a bowl of frosted wheats................Why do I do this? Oh yes almost forgot the Italian nutty biscuits for coffee..
I need the light bulb to flash on quickly.....Now at a good 13stone and permanently queasy.

Karen
- By Teri Date 08.01.08 22:58 UTC
Another soul mate (hmmm, sole, lemon with a thick creamy sauce and veggies tossed in butter   Just can't help myself :( :D )

I think we should scrap this diet disaster, all pile on the pounds and let's hear it for curves ;)
- By Blue Date 08.01.08 21:05 UTC
Two christmas ago I lost 4 stone up to the week before Xmas , I decided no dieting at Xmas time.  I just couldn't get back on the horse.

I need therapy :-)  Or my Jaws wired :-D
- By Lea Date 08.01.08 21:08 UTC
Just a hint. Jaw woring doesnt work!!!!
When I had mine done for medical reason (Not weight but a jaw op!!!)
I yused to have a tub of double cream, a punnet of strawberries and loads of sugar liquidised every lunch for 6 weeks!!!!
And could still have chocolate. BUTTONS!!!! LOL
Lea :)
(Who needs to loose a stone in fat as hardly done any running since the GNR in Sept!!!)
- By Blue Date 09.01.08 09:21 UTC
Sounds like the things I would do for a kick :-D
- By pinkbrady [gb] Date 08.01.08 20:36 UTC
I'll be joining but havent got any scales at the moment so won't be able to post my weight loss on here. I'm getting married next summer so that my big motivator! Good luck to everyone :)
- By ClaireyS Date 09.01.08 08:53 UTC
Ok, so how did everyone do today ? I lost 2lb, not too bad considering the visit to Pizza hut (including ice cream factory) and 3 bottles of wine at the weekend   Im hoping to start exercising (other than dog walking) this week as I seem to be over my nasty cold !
- By LJS Date 09.01.08 10:16 UTC
Well no loss here as feeling awful still trying to get rid of this flu bug I have had.

This week is another week :D
- By rachelsetters Date 09.01.08 10:21 UTC
Funny enough my weigh day is today!  Only just seen this but I'm in - want to lose at least 1st!

Did 1 1/2lb this week which is not bad - and I am missing my daily bag of crisps!

My OH has been ill and lost 8lb !!

Well done Claire!
- By ClaireyS Date 09.01.08 11:03 UTC

>My OH has been ill and lost 8lb !!

dont worry, he will put it all back on when he is feeling better ;)

1.5 lb is good, you need to lose it slowly because otherwise you will just put it back on.  As for crisps, why not buy wotsits ? they are really low fat (1.5 weight watchers points) and they take the edge of the crisp urge !!  Ive given up chocolate, just to see if I can, so have replaced it with fruit pastels (2.5 points per pack)

Alfie is also on a diet, he has roughly half a stone to lose, but obviously im going by the look of him rather that weight but he does have a weekly weigh in on the PAH dog scales just to see if he is losing,  have had to put him back on complete because the raw was just piling the pounds on him (suffers like his mum bless him :(  )
- By rachelsetters Date 09.01.08 11:46 UTC
Oh really I like Wotsits - will have to invest in a bag when I get desparate LOL!

Thanks for the boost - I told Ken its cos he has much more than me to lose LOL!  So glad I don't have a huge sweet tooth but bet I develop one as I'm 'dieting'.

What a great ideal to have fruit pastels for the urge of the sweetness too.

Charlie my English is the same on raw - I really have to reduce the amount he has compared to the Gordons and he eats separately so he doesn't see they get more!

Hope can keep going and keep off the bottles of wine!!! :)
- By Tracey123 [gb] Date 09.01.08 14:15 UTC
As well as wotsits, french fries, quavers and the walkers lights arent bad for you. :)

Get weighed tonight
- By Angels2 Date 09.01.08 20:22 UTC
Doing really badly!

Haven't weighed myself yet but intend to put it on my notes to spur me on:eek:

My excuse is my daughter has chicken pox really badly so I am confined to the house which is always bad as I end up eating everything in sight!
- By Astarte Date 09.01.08 21:27 UTC
used to work in a chinese. the least fatty stuff are chop suey, chow mein isn't to bad, food yung is basically scrambled egg, green pepper and blackbean is ok as is satay. chicken and sweetcorn is lovely and good for you. swwet and sour and curries are bad!
- By ShaynLola Date 09.01.08 21:40 UTC Edited 09.01.08 21:54 UTC
Joining this a bit late, but joining all the same :)

I don't own a set of scales and don't partcularly wish to know what I weigh but suffice to say, I have loads to lose.  My target is that I'd like to be able to get into a size 14/16 (that sounds less scary than xx amount of stones!).  I am realistic enough to know that damned genetics means is nigh on impossible for a female in our family to be any smaller than that  Besides, I like curves!

Sugar is my weakness too but I have had 3 days now of being good & have allowed myself a little bit of choccie each day otherwise I know I will binge if I try to deprive myself totally.  Taking it one day at a time but so far am enjoying the feeling of being in control of what I eat for a change rather than the other way around :)
- By Teri Date 09.01.08 21:48 UTC
I'm deferring yet another day (my freezer is home to a few too many sugary goodies still)  I could have sworn I'd worked my way through them then I found the ones I'd planked (for future private moments of de-stressing) under the brussel sprouts and spring cabbage (who'd pick them out  ) :D
- By LindaMorgan [gb] Date 09.01.08 23:15 UTC
Well done with the weight loss, we just all have to keep going.

Linda
- By Tracey123 [gb] Date 10.01.08 09:09 UTC

Woo hoo well done you!  That's great Tracey! :)
- By tooolz Date 10.01.08 14:07 UTC
This is serious .... has anyone else got a 'Belly-flap'.
At a show about 5 years ago my friend and I saw a BIG lady with a track suit on, she had a BF, a bit like an apron nearly to her knees. We made a pact that if either saw signs of the other getting a BF we would shoot them! Well I've been noticing a little ( conservative estimate) over-hang that could, in fact, hold a pencil. I'd better hide :D
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 10.01.08 14:24 UTC
People who know me think I'm skinny but I can tell you I've got a belly and waist flop :d :d  That's why I want to lose the weight.  Saw photo's of me judging in Spain and I didn't realise that I had that many bulges
- By Dogz Date 10.01.08 15:36 UTC
You have to do pelvic floor/pilates type exercises to keep the grannie flap away..................
- By pavlova [gb] Date 10.01.08 15:38 UTC
I got weighed last night and had put on seven and a half pounds since 18th of December weigh in:eek: .
I have actually been very good since last Saturday so I probably gained more.
Today is the first full week of food optomising I,m hoping to have lost a fair bit next wednesday I,m nine pounds above my target weight but I won,t be for long I hope.
- By Tracey123 [gb] Date 10.01.08 16:09 UTC
I wish I was only 9 pound above my target weight! Try 90 pound lol :D
- By Blue Date 10.01.08 16:30 UTC
This is serious .... has anyone else got a 'Belly-flap'.

A belly flap Heavens Tooolz do you not mean an Apron

Edited to ad I have one not proud of it though  any takers
- By tooolz Date 10.01.08 17:34 UTC
Blue,   any takers     No thanks, do you think I want one on the back too, I'd look like a awning :D We could put them on ebay.

Poloaussie, Pelvic floors are for your insides aren't they, my BF is very much hanging on the outside. :D
- By LindaMorgan [gb] Date 10.01.08 17:47 UTC
Sadly I have one to but so does my frien who is only 8st, so I didn't feel as bad.
- By tooolz Date 10.01.08 17:51 UTC
Yes I've just spoken to someone who says she's had one since having her kids and if she loses weight the flap gets worse!! So there you go, that's going to be my excuse. :D
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 10.01.08 20:38 UTC
All these people who say it appears because of having children are lying :d  I've never had any and I can tell you now I've got quite a belly!
- By ClaireyS Date 10.01.08 20:50 UTC
yep, me too, all my weight is in my belly and sit ups dont work !!!

edit to add : I dont look like a weeble though
- By Dogz Date 10.01.08 21:20 UTC
I do have it on real good authority!!
We need clarification from pinklilies.............
Or else , just sit up straight in the chair, doing the aforementioned exercises, and feel the effect on the tummy too.

Karen :D
- By Blue Date 10.01.08 22:23 UTC
Once you have a real apron :-)  nothing will shift it but the surgeons knife.    Yes you can loose weight get a six pack but the apron skin is there still :-) SADLY :-D
- By Lea Date 10.01.08 22:25 UTC
Does deminish a bit if you do alot of core strength excersises to get the muscles just under the skin to tighten. You may never get rid of it completely but doing sit ups, Plank etc etc is good,. and also would recomend Pilates to anyone!!!! As its gentle but works!!!!
Lea :) :)
- By Angels2 Date 11.01.08 08:31 UTC
I agree with polo the pelvic floor exercises really do help to tone your tummy. :)
