Hello Sam,we had a wobbly puppy,it wobbled so fast it sort of looked like there was something wrong with my eyes, double vision or something, well that was two years ago,and a Leonberger lady told me it was quite common, and just to give it liquid calcium daily, small dosage, and treat it as normal, also had the same advise as your friend did from our vet,and by the time our puppy was 12 weeks she was absolutely fine, had a few tremors on laying down/getting up etc,but that totally stopped by time she was four months old,and now she is as fit as a fiddle,no shakes, has really good below average hip and elbow scores,we kept her ourselves,as we did not really know how things would turn out with her,and we were quite attached to her by this time as well,
hope that was of some use

hi, when i got me pup at seven weeks i noticed she was very wobbly on her feet unlike my dog which i got at 13 weeks. i thought there was something the matter with her but the vet assured me she was fine, she is prob just a bit slower in developing than the other 2.
