Long story, but a friend of a friend bought a young dog yesterday as I had already made preliminary enquiries for him and knew the breeding etc. The owner has a litter of pups sired by him ready to go but she has hung onto the KC reg paper (he was advertised as KC reg)so she can register the pups and then she will forward. For one, I would have thought they should already have been done, unless she has another litter due, but my thoughts are as long as she has the KC name and number, she signs the form as the owner of the dog at time of mating and that is all the details she requires. She could have scanned or photocopied the front.
He didnt get it in writing that paperwork would be forwarded and I am a bit concerned as I cant see any reason to need to hold onto it as all she needs is the above details. My advice has been to phone her before time goes on - he hopes to train the dog and run him in novice trials next year and obv cant if not KC in his name..
What do others think - is there any genuine reason you can think of why she needed to hold on to the paperwork for 'a while' - I cant..
