So happy that it seems to be doing something to help.  My friends dog seems to be a little better and they have definitely seen some improvement. This dog suffers from senile seperation anxiety and has been on drugs from the Vet with no improvement so they are quite happy that they have seen some improvement in that he doesn't seem quite so anxious. I once asked for help on the forum about this dog and got one answer that it would be kinder to put the dog to sleep so I am so glad they have perservered, albeit that I have no connection with this dogs breeding.  The owner has also said that if it really becomes a marked improvement they would like to endorse the product.  I look forward to seeing Ollie's name 'in lights'.

So am I Alison... yes I know there is a time when one has to take a step back and look at the big pitcure... but if the big picture is re-framable... then all is not lost ;)

I do realise that it is only a few days, and we have a long road to travel, but even the slightest improvement gives hope for a better future and life for him... the fact that even the simple communication level is apparent means that I can adjust to whatever level he is on, to keep his spirit without losing concentration too much... He is now at a level where I can get him to focus on me, without manic episodes... I went out this morning, only just back, and listened outside the house before coming in, and nothing...not a peep... crept up to bedroom window and he was sound asleep in his crate...but even better, when I went to get him out.. he was dry... now that is a 1st for months... the stress of me leaving him has made him soil maybe 2/3times in an hour.... so, even if this is the level we stick at....its worth it :)

I will most certainly keep everything crossed for you friends dog, i can totally empathise with her....

Christine is very helpful and knows about this dog,(saw her on Sunday at Richmond). Has kindly sent me some more of the calmer to keep him going until it is on sale.  The owners definitely want to perserve with the calmer because they have seen some improvement. So pleased for you that it seems to have made such a difference in only 3 days.  Hope he keeps improving. Good luck on Sunday at Darlington, I will not be going, but will look out for you at Gundog Breeds (if you are going).  Must say that these people adore their dog, so PTS was not an option for them.

That is wonderful news :) the fact that you're seeing a small improvement at this early stage is very encouraging.  If he can relax enough to get some proper sleep it will make a big difference, researchers have found that chronic sleep deprivation can cause psychotic behaviour,  disorientation, hyperacticity etc. and can affect physical health too

Keeping everything crossed that things just keep improving for you both.

I do understand that part of his phsychie.... I have suffered from sleep deprivation for around 6 years...and I do get to the stage where I shake and feel nauseus.... and occassionally dissorientated....but at least I know what is happening to me... Poor Ollie hasnt a clue what is happening to him

Great news Kay. So many positive little improvements have got to add up. Just getting real sleep has got to be good for his doggie well-being. I hope he continues to improve.

Hi, I've just read about a book called "The Dog Who Loved Too Much" by Nicholas Dodman, which just might be pertinent to your dog. It's a series of case histories including one dog which couldn't bear to be separated from its owners...

Spoke too soon lol, that will teach me :rolleyes:  2.30am till 10mins ago... pacing and barking... has now scraped all the skin of his nose trying to lift carpet away from floor, convinced something is under there I finally lifted the carpet....which seemed to satisfy him...

Ah well, 2 steps forward, 1 step back...

Just googled for that book Skyblue, and found another one by same author, "If only they could speak" both sound interesting.... she says...reaching for the Visa card yet again :)

Aother step forward... the little darling, sweetheart, angel :P ...just qualified for Crufts at Darlington this morning.... :D :D :D

thanks Sarah... :)  he bounced into the ring... flounced in cirles..and bounced out of the ring again...BUT,.. he managed to hold it together just long enough for the judge to see his potential..... love him to bits ;)

I hope it comes on the market soon then as it may be a help to my youngest who is definitely not of a nervous nature but will not allow people to go over her, she just freaks out and is in my previous post this is due to her being partially sighted.  Of course I didn't realise this until she had the normal eye test.

Just a little update... Ollie doing really well on the calmer... very responsive ...still not dropping "The Spawn of Satan" image... :D wonderful high spirited boy, but training coming on tremendously... have got more out of him in the last 3 weeks than the whole of his 1st year.... oh yes... its his 1st birthday today :D 

I am delighted with not only the product, but Christine at Topspec, who has been very helpful and has a very painful right ear, listening to my ramblings lol.... and although I dont particularly need it, I asked her to send me the Topspec Coat & Skin supplement.... Ollie went mental when I opened the tub... no wonder.. the aroma is yummy .... close your eyes and think of Thorntons Rum Truffles :D :D  half tempted myself lol :P
