groom a siberian husky?????:eek:   mine would have a fit at the thought!!

all the other 'mud' huskies would laugh at them:cool::cool:

seriously though, sorry cant help as i dont know anyone who puts their huskies into grooming places for a show. (trusty old shower and dog brush from the pet shop does the trick:cool:) only time i know of is maybe when they are blowing their coats and they go in to get all the undercoat out.  sorry.

I had my Malamute groomed professionally before her first show .... and get some professional help before most shows .. I am rubbish at grooming and don't own a blaster which seem to be the key to fab grooming!!!

With no disrespect to you mollaholland, I appreciate that you are trying to find out :), but I'm amazed that someone would let anyone to groom their dog before a show, let alone a groomer who doesn't know how to prepare them.  I can understand the breeder or another exhibitor but how can they abide by the Kennel Club ruling about not using any products to alter the coat if they allow an unknown person to prepare the dog?

Molla,

hopefully this'll help you out, My reference is Caroline Kisko of Polarnights (she's been a Crufts Judge for Sibes 2005 I think)
-Sibes in the UK should be shown 'au naturel' unlike the States whiskers should NOT be trimmed, it is acceptable for feet to be trimmed to neaten, but many believe thats a sign of not getting good excercise ;) ) NO other trimming is permissable.

- she also says she still sees many badly groomed and "frankly dirty" Sibes in the ring and this is an insult to the judge and dog. () she reccomends bathing 3 days before shows to allow coat to settle. (shorter coat the day before)

to be honest IMO (and vast majority of other as many show Sibes are workers too) I dont like this repeated washing of Sibes,I believe it goes against the dogs coat purpose, a Sibe coat will be naturally clean, sand etc fall out this is due to and essential to preserve the coats insulating properties!!

I think your best bet is to have a good chat with your clients and gauge their knowledge they may well be just expecting a wash and blaster!! (I hope so anyway ;) )
HTH :D
and forgive me but...ROFL @ Caileag!! *I can stop biting my tongue now its been said :P *
