"I've seen her at a number of shows and think she is quite nice. What you have to remember is, she is only 16 months old!!! She's probably going through some changes. "

Exactly.  The judge is supposed to judge what they see on the day - not how they think she may end up!

I thought the Aussie's movement was leagues better than the others in the group. Although, why didn't the guy with GSD have a shorter lead if he wasn't going to let the dog gait out to the full length of it?

After watching the full length judging on interactive, I was surprised the Bouvier won the group considering how it was spooked a couple of times by the judge. Not exactly "Calm and sensible." as stated in the breed standard.

Hopefully the Aussie WON'T win BIS - Joe Public down the road just wouldn't cope :( :(

Yep...what an idiot!!!!  My kids were even laughing their heads off at his powers of total uselessness! lol!

Already I've heard the breed  puppy lists are recieving calls for pups to be used for breeding! How's that for people being quick of the mark in their money grabbing desire to wreck havoc on a beautiful breed!  THis must be one big down side to Crufts!  In my opinion.

I,m so mad:mad::mad: I missed television coverage as I was on the way home and probably still waiting to get of west car park :rolleyes:I,d have loved to see the shepherd placed she,s a lovely bitch also I think the belgian is brilliant  what a good lasting breed they seem to be.
Does anyone know if the working and pastoral groups will be shown again or do we have to wait for the best in show programme?

Snap- I missed most of it- not because of the West car park- but because of the east :-(

Did anyone notice his other 'slip up'.  When talking about the Russian Black Terrier, he tried to say something in Russian and when the dog didn't respond he said ' well my German isn't very good'!!!!!!!!!!!  I was actually thinking of e-mailing the BBC  and now I think I will!  Lets get someone on that knows what they are talking about.

That Australian Shepherd Dog was absolutely lovely.::cool:

Leaping to Ben's defence :p but wasn't the dog itself from Germany?
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 10.03.06 15:24 UTC
Yes, I thought it was over from Germany too!
- By AlisonGold [gb] Date 10.03.06 16:34 UTC
Yes, but he was trying to talk to it in Russian.

Alison i think he was interveiwing a bouvie, not a russian :)

I have to agree with Isabel about Ben Fogle, MUCH better to look at than Clare Balding! Never found him remotley attractive before but the specs and casual suit combo definatley improve him. ;-)

Clare Balding sooo much better presenting though, love her racing coverage. maybe next year we could have ben and Clare, i think they would go well together. After all she is used to clearing up Willie Carsons mistakes!! :D

Daisy,
You don't know how much I agree with you........ I have had three phone calls today starting at 08.30am this morning with people asking me to find them a puppy that looks like ''the one that won last night'' for showing and breeding

He's a gorgeous dog but I hope he doesn't go BIS :(
- By Daisy [gb] Date 10.03.06 21:40 UTC
Oh dear, Gabrielle :( I'm going to tell everyone about all the bad bits to having an Aussie if I'm asked :D Unfortunately there are always people around who will supply puppies to anyone :(

Good luck in dissuading the prospective owners :)

Don't worry! I've got my two on the case!  They have been sooooooo naughty today both working ever so ever so ever so hard to undermine all the hard work Chance has been doing to promore the breed! :D

It's been a strange day though. I've lost count of how many people have congratulated me and my dogs for winning at Crufts! lol!  It was fun at first but after while it's starting to do my head in!

Well... my Border Collie palls are all delighted by the results but at the same time are worried about the impact this will have on the breed as dogs get into the wrong hands... lol... they know some people won't cope just from seeing my two mucking about! lol!   In fact so many people I've met today say it's great when any working dog wins at Crufts...but better for the dogs when it's a small low maintenance less active dog who wins.
