The DDA is, like all hastily enacted "knee jerk" legislation, flawed. But for all that it is the law and, having some knowledge of the case Nursey describes, would simply say that a dog's welfare should come first and it is grossly unfair to fly any dog thousands of miles across the Atlantic (or any other ocean for that matter!) if there is any possibility that DEFRA will categorise it as a "pitbull" type. It's all very well humans standing up to points of principle but you shouldn't be gambling on a dog's future and making it the victim of your principles.
