I've had a look on the web and found this site for you.  It's about Poms but there's little difference in the grooming ;)  I would be careful trimming the ear hair tho, check with the breeder whether this is needed for UK shows :)  Stay away from any coloured shampoos and chalks, nothing like this is allowed in UK shows ;)

Grooming poms

Hope this helps, and good luck with the showing :)

Don't trim them up like you would for a pom!  Firstly, if your in touch with your breeder go back and speak to them about it!

The reason you won't find much on grooming in the breed book is that you really don't have to do that much too them.  With mine I bath him a day or so before the show and then dry him with a high powered hair dryer/blaster to make the hair stand up.  You obviously have to try and avoid them getting a parting on their backs.  Some dogs are better done the day before the show, others about 4 days to a week before, it depends on the coat.

the only trimming you need to do is under their feet (as short as possible) and around the sides of their feet, not inbetween their toes or it makes them look like they've got cloven hooves.  You may also need to trim up the back legs as far as the hocks, but not too short, just to remove stragly looking hair.

Hope this helps

I would give the breeder a ring and as Kate says dont trim them up like a pom.Ive seen some horrible messes done to spitz when they have been trimmed to far back.
All the best gwen

There have been some horrible messes on various dogs lately where owners are starting to trim and shape coats that should be left natural ;)

I gave the link because it had excellent advise on brushing out the coat ;) something that some owners have no idea about, even when they are showing :(  didn't realise it advised trimming between the toes  sorry 'bout that!
