
If he's been a kennel dog then he won't be house trained. You'll have to start this from scratch - treat him as if he was 8 weeks old. Take him (not just let him out) outside at least every hour, after each meal, after playtimes and when he wakes after a nap. When he performs, say the 'command' word of your choice (one that you'll be happy to say in public! - "busy", or "hurry up", or "weewees" or whatever) and then give him plenty of praise. He'll soon associate that word with what he's doing, and then you can start using it
before he does it naturally. If you use it too soon it'll just be another sound to him, with no meaning.
And of course, be vigilant in the house! Don't leave him unattended, and watch his behaviour. You'll learn to interpret his actions and recognise when he's feeling the urge - that's when you take him outside. Good luck!
