Have a good day tomorrow. I am a very mature student and so going to uni for me was terrifying. I expected to spend 3 years isolated because of my age but how wrong could I have been. The one thing I quickly realised when I got to uni was that despite the age difference to the majority of students we all had something in common and that was the interest in the subject we were studying. My 3 years at undergrad were great and I made some great friends young and also more my own age and we all helped each other. I refused to be a mother figure (bearing in mind most of the students were my daughter's age) and they didn't treat me like one.
I remember at graduation last year looking at all the young students, many of whom had been teenagers at the start and realising how they had grown, not in height although some had in weight so remember not to eat too many pot noodles/pizza/McD and drink too much lager, anyway they had grown as individual people, they had matured into confident independent adults. I am feeling all emotional now.
It is a big step but remember that however you feel tomorrow most of those you meet will be having the same thoughts and feelings.
Let us know how you get on
