My Rottweiler puppy is 16 weeks old and continually nipping me and growling even when its unprovoked.  I've tried the "ouch" and ignore but nothing seems to stop her doing this, she is crate trained and is brillant when out walking although at times she will bite the lead.  We socialise her with dogs and people and up to now has been superb

Does anyone have any ideas...please !!

Hi Boudie,

It's painful, isn't it  :P  Have you tried this link http://www.jersey.net/~mountaindog/berner1/bitestop.htm ?  It sounds in part what you have already been doing but it is very important that training in this way - any way for that matter - is 100% consistent by all household members.   Young children tend to over excite pups and it is virtually impossible to get round a nipping situation with youngsters around who are quite naturally anxious to play with a puppy - the best solution if that scenario applies to your home is to limit the children and pup's contact with one another in the home except for structured times when you can keep an eye on things and give "time out" immediately should rough housing begin.

HTH a little - best wishes, Teri :)

My advice would be the same, I am lucky my BC puppy was with his mum for 13 weeks before he came to me & she has obviously taught him bite inhibition as he never attempts to nip me or the other dogs which is good. I never allow a puppy to nip or even chew on my hands if they start it's immediately me walking away & leaving the puppy alone I learn the hard way a long time ago !

mine has all the usual 'dog toys' from hide chews to ropes etc., unfortunately the soft fluffy toys only seemed to make her think she could bitE everything that was soft so these were taken away, but anyway i'm glad you managed solve the problem with your little horror LOL...

Keep safe
