Sandie, this very much a subject under controversy and I can appreciate your confusion.
In the local area, all the vet practices (6) bar 1 have moved to the three year vaccinations for Parvo, hepatitis & distemper. Lepto PI is still annual. You may find that when you take your dogs to the vet, they are doing them every third year, bar Lepto.
I titre test my dogs, although my vet has moved to the 3 year vaccination protocol. This year they had Lepto only.
My insurance doc's state that they will not pay for fees arising from a condition for which a routine vaccination is available other than in respect of vaccine failure. It doesn't state annual. No doubt 'routine' is in respect of the vet's protocol.
And my dogs never go into boarding kennels. But if they had to, I imagine some boarding kennels would accept the 3 yr vaccination protocol as directed by the vet. There are some kennels accepting titre tests for boarders in the local area at the moment.
I have heard that some vets are starting to do Kennel Cough vaccination annually tho? Maybe it's a regular thing elsewhere?
