Hi,
Yeah we decided to call her "Missy" as in the female rapper "missy Elliot" Because they are both big black badass girls lol, Both her mum and dad are really impressive (also a lil intimidating until you get to know them and they get to know you) so we are really looking forward to watching her grow,
Regards
ROB
Welcome to the site Rob. She sounds lovely, any chance of you emailing me a picture? I have never seen a Bandog before, I know I'm sad, but my excuse is that I live on the secluded Isle of Wight and our variety of dog breeds is rather limited :-(

Sorry Rob,
I have PM'd you with my address.xxx

AS a first time dog ownere I would urge you to visit trainign classes near you.
The kind of dog you have chosen to won is not generally for the first time or inexpereinced owner. She will need fair and firm training and good leadership skills from you which take time to acquire.
You will not be able to get it wrong at all, as your baby could end up paying for any mistakes in training.
Owners of large breeds are at a disadvantage in that any puppyish or boisterous behaviour that people would be fine with in a yorkie could land you in trouble with a larger dog.
I am constantly aware of this when walking with my dogs and my freinds large guarding breed. People stop and want to pet mine, and even encourage them to jump up which makes me cross, but god forbid her dogs even look at them or try to nuzzle someone.
This of course is not god for large breed pups to ahve this negative reaxtion from many people to their freindly overtures, so you need to get her where people will wnat to make a big fuss of her and where there is the opportunity for controlled interaction with other dogs so that all her people and dog interactions are as positive as possible.

Brainless,
Thanks for the advice, I will of course be taking her to puppy traning classes so that i can be a good owner and she can be a good dog, I do have one concern, I have being looking for a dog for over 6 mnths now and ahve done a lot of research into bandogs, As you mentioned in your post if you are out walking your dog in the park alot of people will want to fuss your dog sometimes without asking first, As you know Bandogs have a very protective streak and do not take to strangers very well at first, So how will i avoid a possible incident with well meaning strangers?
Thanks Rob

Taking her to classes will be a good start for socialising her, if this is a protective breed you will have to work very hard on that. If you feel you are not achieving a very good level of reliability then I'm afraid you will not have any choice but to muzzle her out and about. As you say there are well meaning strangers who may approach your dog when you are looking away at something else, I know they shouldn't but you will not be able to claim that if, this very large dog, does any damage and she will be the one to suffer. Well not just her really the law ensures we take responsibility over our dogs ability to conduct itself in society and the punishment for owning a dangerous dog is a very large fine and possible imprisonment plus of course a criminal record which I sometimes think can be the worse bit in terms of job hunting etc.

Hi Tippie,
I asked my breeder about ear cropping and he informed me that it was a baned practice in the uk and that not many people agree with the proceedure, However like me he does like the look of cropped ears but would nerver get it done.
