As an Ex WT & Schutzhund handler(only ex as I don't have a dog eligible or able to compete The first thing you must have
before manwork is even considered is a fully under control dogs
BAGSD branches do not teach manwork at all & the WT or schutzhund clubs expect your dog to be basic obedience trained before starting training for anything else
If your dog is show bred it isn't very likely you would be very successful in Schutzhund as the schutzhund working bred dogs are very high drive dogs far higher than any show(even full german bred show)dogs, however it doesn't mean you cannot complete & get the qualifications just that you would not be likely to qualify for the top events(like international competitions)
There is a trial in Yorkshire for schutzhund next week end The tracking is in cheshire but the obedienvce & protection is at Brighouse
June 18th & 19th
Judge: Ad vanYperen (VDH)
Tracking (Saturday) - Daresbury, Cheshire
Obedience and Protection (Sunday) - White Rose Ground, Brighouse, Yorkshire
