My 7 month old akita was limping around, and after a xray the vet tells me she has H.P. They have given me Seraquin to try. Has anyone got a dog with this or know what lies ahead for a young dog with this??

Were the Xrays looked at by an orthopaedic specialist vet or just your oen GP vet.  It isn't unusual for Vets to be quite out where assessing hip xrays is concerned.

Yeah, you really do need to get them scored properly if possible.  My vet said when I had my girl hipscored that they weren't brilliant but there was nothing too drastic.  She scored 5/5  one of the lowest scores in the breed so they weren't as bad as I thought that they may be.

In fact they were very good.  A man who sought advice from me re a pups lameness was told by his on x-raying him that he suspected OCD (not a breed problem).  As the pups was insured I told him to get a second opinion from an orthopaedic specialist and the pup had panosteitis (an inflamation of the bones that fast growing pups can get and grwo out of), or growing pains, and there was no sign of OCD.  this person had also been over excersising his pup despite the breeders advice not to.
