
Not really sure about the cancer risk but we certainly seem to hear of quite a few pyometras on here. The incontinence problem seems to centre on a few specific breeds. Not all coats are ruined by spying either some don't really change at all, I remember a very big winning Sheltie a few years back that was spayed (because of pyometra if my memory serves me correct ;)) whose coat appeared to
benefit greatly from the operation, much muttering at the time about spayed bitches being allowed to be shown :).
I'm not really for or against spaying, it always needs to be decided individually in my opinion, I am just posting this in the interest of some balance :)
