Unfortunately if not implanted correctly they can move, but often they move and mthen stay put in the new position causing no problem. I would in you case keep an eye on where it is now and chaeck that it doesn't move at all every week for a few weeks and if not leave it alone.
A freind of mine has his Elkhounds chip move down her shoulder to near her neck, but it stayed pout after that.
I know a lady with a Champion buhund who was found to have a non functioning chip when checked when doing his Pets Paperwork. He was X-rayed and chip found to be in place. The chip company offered to pay for it to be removed and a new one implanted. As it wasn't moving and was fixed she just opted for a new chip.
Another freind with a dobe had her chip break inside the dog. Looks like it had moved down the shoulder blade, and in rough play when dogws will often shoulder slam each other the glass broke. this caused a major reaction and a huge cyst which had to be drained then all the scar tissue cut out. She was a CC winner and was never shown again.
All mine are Chipped and Tattoed, but all mine except youngest were chipped as adults. Going to take little one for her booster so will be curious to see where her chip is now.
