Okay I am starting to panic. Nothing major just heart pounding in my ears. feeling faint etc :)

I am at my first ever championship show Manchester Thursday and with my 6 month old puppy bitch (her first ever show) It seemed a good idea at the time - honest.

Well what do I wear???? don't want to go jeans. So I though a trouser suit in a light pale colour with a t-shirt in a brighter colour like red/pink or something. And black pumps/trainers for moving on possibly slippy floor. Tess the pup is black with a little brindle so didn't want dark clothing What does anyone think?

I am female fat and forty'ish by the way. ;)

Your ideas sound absolutely fine to me, something to make the dog stand out from you, and non slip shoes, excellent.

from another female, fat and fortyish person. lol

Thanks Jen. Will have a trial run at trying out different tshirts with the suit, at least that will be one less worry then.

Sounds perfect for a Champ Show to me!  Might be worth travelling/hiking from the carpark/sorting the dog out in jeans and sweatshirt and taking the clean stuff in a suitcarrier??
- By Lady Dazzle [gb] Date 18.01.05 00:03 UTC
Sounds fine to me, but as Staffs don't go on the table and so are never against the top half of you.  I would go for black top under light suit to match with dark shoes. Not slippy in those halls by the way, its concrete floor.

Would look a neater picture in my opinion.

We are there are Thursday, if you get chance come across and see us we are in Ring 3 Argyle Centre right next door to you.  Bench No.969/970/971.

I will do my best to do that Jayne, and your right dark top dark shoes - duh my mind is not in gear. And the judge is from America so I thnk smart is the order of the day.
Have checked suit and it is brand new I must have forgotten about it ;) and it's very pale green.

Good idea about traveling in jeans though. Thanks :)
- By Lady Dazzle [gb] Date 18.01.05 00:11 UTC
Good idea about the Jeans Val, as its threatening rain up there on Thursday.  My lot seem to be drawn to clean clothes as soon as they step foot out of the car. :-D
- By Val [gb] Date 18.01.05 00:14 UTC
Dry cleaners usually do a cheap suit carrier.  If you can't get there a black bin bag with a hole cut in the top for the coat hanger will keep your suit clean if your dog jumps up with muddy feet!!
Nite folks!! :)
- By kazz Date 18.01.05 00:16 UTC
Val just a question won't I look silly in standing in the ring with QUOTE
"Dry cleaners usually do a cheap suit carrier. If you can't get there a black bin bag with a hole cut in the top for the coat hanger will keep your suit clean if your dog jumps up with muddy feet!! " ;)

Nite to you both.

You'll catch the judge's eye!!!!!!
- By kazz Date 18.01.05 00:22 UTC
Yes but will the judge be able to stop laughing long enough to give me the CC :D

Goodnight and good luck.

"I am female fat and forty'ish by the way"    I am sure there will be hundreds just like you then :-))

Sounds perfect what you are wearing. Suitbags on e-bay quite cheap I have bought a few there.
- By kazz Date 18.01.05 00:32 UTC
Thanks Blue.

But I'll stick with the binliner option at least if it rains I can tie them round my feet then ;)
- By Val [gb] Date 18.01.05 00:43 UTC
Y'a know, I've seen folks with carrier bags on their feet when the ground at Welsh KC had been 6" deep in mud!! :(
- By ice_queen Date 18.01.05 07:51 UTC
Don't worry about the suit carrier yet, when you win Best opposite sex you can get a nice one from pedigree!!!!

Like has been said, black t-shirt to match shoes, light suit sounds great!

Do change at show, after a few shows you will learn A) to get changed in small toilets or B) learn how to grab several people to make a "human dressing room" and get changed at the benches! (I did it in under 2 mins at crufts last year!)

Have fun, good luck, I trust suit is comfortable? If it isn't, don't wear it!

Hi Karen
My first show with my first elkie was a champ show...he was 6 months a 4 dyas at the time so I know how you're feeling!!!!!!
Once you get in there it will be fine and the only thing you'll be thinking about is your pup ...in fact once I got to the show I started feeling better.
Your suit sounds fine to me...never really watched the staffy ring but can't imagine them being in the 'really posh' brigade somehow!Seems to vary greatly from breed to breed...elkies do VERY casual!!although suits are seen....whereas other breeds EVERYONE is suited and booted! I'm sure your outfit will be great!
Hopefully see you in a couple of days

Suit is very comfortable have just tried it on. I feel really relaxed in it. Just trying different t-shirts with it now. :)
- By ice_queen Date 18.01.05 13:28 UTC
oh joys of seeing what goes best!  Hope your having fun!

Talking of suits, any ideas how to convince a dad I need ANOTHER suit... ;)
- By Brainless [gb] Date 18.01.05 19:59 UTC
Hitch the trousers up high and raise yoru arms so sleeves run up and then tell him youv'e grown out of the oens you have.  Dads don't seem to realise when we have stopped growing.

Mind you I had relatives telling me, my haven't you grown until I was in my mid twenties.  Why do they do that whehn you stopped growing 12 years earlier.  Surely they mean haven't you grown UP!!.
- By Lady Dazzle [gb] Date 18.01.05 14:24 UTC
Great stuff Kazz if you feel comfortable and at ease in the suit then it will be spot on for the show.
- By kazz Date 18.01.05 16:12 UTC
Have worn the shoes I wasn't going to wear - all day today and they are like a second skin so comfy. So thats me sorted. Just need to decide on a t-shirt now as the shoes are beige/cream loafers/pull ons thingys.

Karen
- By ice_queen Date 18.01.05 16:27 UTC
ahhh now if you have light colourd shoes...you could go for the bright pink top!

or a beige/cream pull on t-shirt thingy!!!!
- By kazz Date 18.01.05 16:31 UTC
I am going either bright pink or cherry red t-shirt :)
- By ice_queen Date 18.01.05 17:04 UTC
just make up your mind BEFORE you go in the ring wont u!? :D
- By hilarybrenn [im] Date 18.01.05 18:08 UTC
what ever you don't were white(it gets dirty very easily) how about light brown but not too light

- By kazz Date 18.01.05 19:39 UTC
Have decided on black t-shirt with silver stars (not as nightclubby as it sounds) mostly because I just realised the pink tshirt says "Get lucky tonight" on it :) and the cherise one says "strike it lucky" I never noticed before. So stars it is :)
- By archer [gb] Date 18.01.05 21:10 UTC
Get lucky tonight

NOT IF ITS A MALE JUDGE KAZZ!!!!!!!!
- By Lady Dazzle [gb] Date 18.01.05 21:35 UTC
OOO I don't know Archer, might be just the thing to wear if its a male judge :-D :-D
- By kazz Date 18.01.05 21:49 UTC
Well I have decided NOT to wear that one I never realised what it said isn't that terrible ;)

Karen
- By Lady Dazzle [gb] Date 18.01.05 21:50 UTC
Shame Kazz we were deciding whether to miss our class just to come across and see you showing with that one on and to see the judges reaction!! ;-)
- By kazz Date 18.01.05 22:43 UTC
No Jayne I do not want to cause that much controversy - at least not at my FIRST show ;)
- By hilarybrenn [im] Date 19.01.05 18:32 UTC
what about trousers?
- By Brainless [gb] Date 19.01.05 18:40 UTC
Best to be worn, lol :D
- By hilarybrenn [im] Date 19.01.05 19:17 UTC
took the words right out of my mouth
- By kazz Date 19.01.05 22:08 UTC
Hmmm do you all think trousers should be worn? I was considering the G-string look, but if you insist on trousers then so be it :)
- By ice_queen Date 19.01.05 22:12 UTC
do the both look Kazz...trousers worn but worn VERY low...then its a compromise...

**thinks to self to make sure she gets washed high clasic trouseres**
- By Moonmaiden Date 19.01.05 22:13 UTC
A G String & not a Thong ???? ;)
- By kazz Date 19.01.05 22:20 UTC
Could go thong - depends on the weather ;)
- By lel [gb] Date 19.01.05 23:00 UTC

- By Dill [gb] Date 20.01.05 22:01 UTC
Ok you lot, I'm gong to show my age now  ..........  whats the difference?  I always thought a thong and a g-string were the same  - not that I'm ever likely to wear one (being all three F's - f*t, f*t and f*rty  )
- By Brainless [gb] Date 21.01.05 00:23 UTC
I just call them F*nny patches :D  Even with having lost weight I cdannot for the life of me ever imagine wearing either, I like to have my whole rear confortably clothed and warm.  I would love to know what the difference is?
- By Dill [gb] Date 22.01.05 00:43 UTC
Until I had my first child I was a size six  I wouldn't have consideed them then - I certainly wouldn't now.  Just imagine - a wedgie on purpose!!!!!
