Topic Dog Boards / Showing / showing a dalmation
- By ManxPat [im] Date 18.01.05 17:54 UTC
My daughter was asked last night at ringcraft to take a dalmation in the training as the owner of the had her hands full with a puppy.

My daughter is now curious - are dalmations stacked or free standing when showing.

Thank you
Patricia

Always freestood, with wonderful wagging tails.

or dare I say it........ baited :D     no, honestly, most Dalmations you see on the continent are baited :)

Freestanding and ran on a loose lead.

yes archer :)

I was told though (not by anyone on here though) that free standing and baiting are 2 different things. :)  One done with food, the other with no food as the dog stands relatively square when he/she stops.

Could be wrong though. :) I've not been showing that long.

No, baiting is simply using food as a reward for good standing, and to keep the dog's interest, because it needs to have its tail wagging and ears alert.
:)

No ...cos you're baiting doesn't mean you're not freestanding. :d
