does any one have any tips on how to train an 8mnth old border collie to go out side she's having none of it and now the weather is getting colder she is getting worse i have tried taking her out side every 10 mins and after feeding. newspaper, wee wee pads and a stinky liquid that you leave a few drops of on the spot you want them to go. my house stinks all the time and it is costing a fortune in cleaning products.
please help!!!!

How long have you had her? As you have discovered, newspaper and pads are generally worse than useless because they teach a pup that it's acceptable to toilet indoors when that's the exact opposite of what you want them to learn!

So I would remove all such things, give all floors a thorough cleaning with a solution of biological washing liquid then wipe hard surfaces with surgical spirit or white spirit to remove any smell that will encourage her to use that place again. (Don't use chlorine bleach because that smells of ammonia, which is a constituent of urine, so she will think that place is a toilet area.)

Treat her as a small puppy by taking her out at least every hour (which you are doing, but maybe too often) to an area that you want her to use, and wait patiently with her till she starts to perform. That is the time to give her the command you'll use ('be busy', 'hurry up', 'go wee' or whatever) and then praise her when she's finished. Do this every time and she'll soon get the idea of what's required.

Training won't happen overnight - I would suggest you set aside two weeks where you do nothing but watch her while she's awake - take time off work - and really concentrate 100% on her training. The effort you put in will be rewarded. Good luck.

umm.my bitches never want to go out if its wet!
first need to give it a command whenever she goes, we use quick-quicks & poo-poohs.then say it whenever she preforms outside & give her a tasty treat.
then when you think she might want to go,take her outside, show her the treats & say your word. hopefully she will go.
if you catch her going in the house say "no" & quickly take her outside & command again

Does she have a variety of surfaces to 'go' on?  Mine prefer grass to concrete...

gosh yes my girls would only go on grass too!

thanks for your advice. i have had her since she was approx 8 weeks. we got her from manchester dogs home she was very small and they suggested she was tht runt of the litter. this didn't bother us as our other dog was also the runt of his litter.
she did have a few behaveural problems but we seem to have sorted everything ex cept the toilet training and barking but we are getting there with the barking.
there are different sufaces in the garden and she really enjoys going out most of the time (not so much with the weather at the mo) but never does anything.
Nibble is only my second dog but using the advice from this message board it only took a couple of weeks to train our other dog Shady.
both dogs get on great but i have tried letting them out seperatly incase she was too excited playing with Shady
just at my wits end at the momont
thanks again

also what you could try is to take them both into the garden, keep the pup on the lead, then encorage her to sniff where the other dog has "gone",she should also want to go there,if she dosent wander away then wander back over, still all on the lead, when she does go just as above command & treat/praise,then let her off for a play. hopefully then she will learn the quicker she goes the quicker she can play.
as shes a rescue she may have been confused as obvisley they can mess anywhere in their run
