Does anyone else have a dog/s that go into a certain position when they are sulking?? If I dare to offend Murf, he goes into a kind of "mound" position. To explain, he puts his head flat between his paws.Front paws flat out in front of him and his back legs go into a "haunch" position. This could be because he is a very large breed, but it looks soo funny. He looks like a figure of 8 but with an arch in the middle. I have never had his breed before and when he does it we always say "he's Briarding again"!!! (Please tell me its not just me that has rediculous sayings for their dogs antics)

I alway know when I have p****d him off as he immediately adopts this position  Even when I haven't done anything that I am aware of, he always lets me know by doing it and then I usually work out what it is that I have done wrong :D

My other one, she does the same thing with the head and the paws but not the haunches. And she is not so quick to take offence in life, breed differences or sex differences??? :D :D

We all read peoples body language, in everday life, but are we so clued up on our dogs body language? Any one else out there who immediately knows when they have upset their dog? Even without meaning to  I am interested in your interpretation of your dogs as somebody said to me the other day, "don't be stupid, how can you tell when your dog is disillusioned with life"?

ROFLMAO   Mine does that all the time :D :D :D  She did it tonight when I had a longer than usual bath (so cold today!). When I came out the bathroom she was sat in the exact same position, with her eyes (and body language!) telling me I'd been far too long. She did it later tonight too, when I was having onion bahjees (sp?) and obviously wasn't going to let her have any - she even gives a big 'huffy' sigh - just to add extra impact to what I call 'the very manipulating but can't resist' position !! Aren't they so funny ?!?
She carried on sitting in thay way, giving sulking noises too! - until hubby had finished his roast chicken breast - and thank goodness - he saved her a bit!!!
Glad to here I'm not the only one with a sulky dog too hairypooch ! ;)

Jo-Basset, mine also gives a big huffy sigh AND rolls his eyes!! :D :D Thank god, I thought it was just me as well. Wouldn't you just LOVE to know what they are thinking?...........or, perhaps not :D

My dalmatian lies on his side with his back towards me and his paws stretched out rigidly in front of him. He ignores anything said to him.

:D .....and like my girl Sheena, your Dal probably 'dramatically flung' himself down on his bed and spat his dummy out before turning his back on you before developing severe hearing loss ! ;)

I thought I had the only sighing dog in society  Glad to know its not just mine though :D

Mine arches himself over the arm of 'HIS COUCH' (oh yes ;)) He has the 2 seter, we get the 3 seater and the chair, so fair's fair I suppose, and he refuses to look at you

He soon comes round when its "Walkies" time or feeding time though :p

My mum has a lab who would be a manic depressive if he were human.  He spends lots of time with mum on her own but then visits my brother who has 7 dogs and has a brilliant time which he loves.  When he gets back home he goes rapidly into a miserable decline and refuses to interact with any of us for ages.  At other times he is all sweetness and light and you can't stop him wagging his tail with joy.  He thoroughly dislikes my pup and lies under the table giving the loudest sighs you've ever heard!

Jazz is a misery guts at times too :D.  He assumes the position of face between front paws, back paws exactly in line so his rear end sticks up , gives the mother of all sighs and looks at you as if he is crying.  This is generally when he wants a cuddle (Which is 24/7) :D or when he wants your food.  Its funny to read what other peoples dogs do and glad to hear its not just mine.

My beagle Caleb does it too, head between the front legs lying down and sighing loudly.  V funny.

He will lay down on the bottom step of the stairs and he will put his back to you and not look at you even if you call him.

He does this position if hes been naughty, staightdown.

He has also been known to put his paws over his eyes!

He is very vocal as well, always moaning and groaning and crying, happy noises and sad noises.

When he is very excited he bangs and chatters his teeth!
