Can anyone tell the difference between, a Care Worker and a Support Worker within the Care Proffession?

A Care Worker provides hands on care to the client and a Support Worker helps individuals or families with problems giving them support and practical help (not going into it too deeply).

Sweep,

The answer to this depends on who is describing the jobs and how much they are paying the 'care/support' worker ;)  There should be specific training and NVQ qualifications to acheive (provided by the employer)

My husband worked for a charity for many years and at various times his job description changed from Care Worker to Support Worker, and back again.  The nature of his worked didn't change - only the description and the pay :(

I agree with Dill here,I have done both jobs and they did not vary too much, all included hands on care. The pay varies a lot too! I think you just have to decide at any interview, whether it's what you want to do that counts and don't take a job based purely on the finances,if you are not happy in a job then you won't do it well,so where support or caring work is involved it may not be just you who is unhappy :)
Jacqueline :)
