
If putting Copydex on dogs ears is cheating, then I would pretty well guarantee that most Kerry Blue exhibitors can be put in this catagory (or at least they could in the days when I bred Kerries!). No, the dogs didn't seem to mind it, but you had to make sure the ears were scrupulously clean inside when you did it. It was usually done about 4 months old, to carry them over the time when they were changing their teeth, as this definitely affects ear carriage.
The copydex was simply trimmed off as the coat grew longer.
My worry would be that in a short-coated breed you the Copydex would be too close to the skin, and you would get a skin rash, and it would be difficult to remove - this didn't apply to Kerries, who had long puppy coats that the air could get through.
