Beattie came back from her Sunday-morning walk favouring one leg. We carefully examined each foot for wounds (none) and felt each leg for heat or swelling (none). By Sunday evening she couldn't put any weight on her left fore, so that narrowed down which leg was injured. Still no sign of anything amiss. On Monday it was no better, but we could see some bruising on one pad. She's been kept at home when the others go out (getting very fed up), but tonight one toe is enormously swollen. Off to see the vet, who reckons she's twisted the toe on the hard ground and has an infection. :(
That's what Harry did a couple of years ago and ended up having the toe amputated. Keep your fingers crossed that the antibiotic treatment works better for beattie than it did for him. I don't want to go through that again.
