We have fed Spice on Nature Puppy Diet and a mix of JWB complete which she adores, for the past 3months having given up on Ped.Chum!
However I contacted Nature Diet to enquire about the right age to progress to the Adult version and was surprised that they said she would now be ready for the Adult Menu.
Quote:
"At 6 months of age, you may start feeding the standard adult menus to her now, she should by now have passed through her fastest period of growth and although she may continue to mature for another 8-9 months, this growth will be much slower and more gradual. The puppy menu has elevated protein levels that if fed to a dog who has no requirement for the excess, can lead to fast growth which can be detrimental to larger breeds, and hyperactivity is also seen sometimes especially in breeds like the Border Collie just because it is too much energy."
Can I please have your opinions on this,as I thought puppies in general went onto an Adult menu at around 1year?
Spice doesn't appear hyperactive, she has a lot of energy but then most border collies usually do and she only eats one packet of puppy diet and some JWB once a day

if we give her any more she just sniffs it and walks off, for snacks she has hide chews or raw veg such as carrot. She is gaining around 1kg every 10days now and currently weighs 15.2kgs,her coat is thick and shiny and she seems in the peak of condition.
Any advice is welcome,
Jacqueline.
