Has anyone any experience of giving dogs buffalo milk? The reason I ask is that I bought some the other day and my dogs went mad begging for some. So eventually I gave them a small drop in their bowls, now everytime I go to the fridge they are there waiting.

Dogs like milk because it contains sugar (lactose) however it can cause problems in some dogs as they lack the enzyme lactase needed to convert it into a usable product which means it can cause diarrhoea, gas etc.  Lots of people feed their dogs milk with apparently no problem however no animal post weaning has any need for it.

Re-reading my earlier post I see I did not make my query clear. Yes I did realise why dogs like milk, and that it is not a lot of good for most dogs, but my question was not about adult dogs as such. I was wondering if it could be used for weaning puppies. I was I have to admit surprised at my dogs reaction to this milk, as my ordinary cows milk they never ever beg for. It was by noticing their reaction to the buffalo milk that made me wonder. Curiosity really.
When I brought home the milk in the shopping bag, they dived into the bag and tried to drag it out. Usually they don't bother with the bags. I also noticed it did not separate, into the cream and watery milk underneath, but like sheep and goat milk stayed whole. My adult dogs do not normally have milk of any kind.

Have to say don't know much about buffalo milk except it makes great mozzarella :D :D  Maybe it has different fat/sugar content or it just smells great :D

The fact that it did not separate would indicate it is homogonised would it not?
