Hi, we got our dog from a rescue centre and have never been sure what he is. he loos like a parsons jack russell terrier but has colouring on his body as well. all the books suggesst that parsons jack russells only have colouring on their face and tail. We thought he could bea croos breed but he has also had his tail docked and someone told me this is a sign he is a breedd. please help

The pure bred PJRT should be entirely white OR predominately white with TAN, LEMON,or BLACK markings OR any combination of these markings,preferably confined to the HEAD and/or ROOT OF THE TAIL.

To be honist there are thousands of small terriers around that are called Jack Russells, very few of them are, because they are small terrier cross breeds or multi cross breeds, that have the basic white background to the coat. Parson Russell Terrier are not so small as some of those being called JRT's, Parson's are often 14" tall and the colour is predominantly white, the colour if any prefered to be on the head and/or base of tail.
Would not worry what your dog is, if you love it, give it any name you like.
