Topic Dog Boards / General / Fabric cages/crates, any good?

I was considering buying one of these fabric cages you see at the shows, being light and easy to assemble and carry, I thought they would be much better for the shows. Have any of you got one, and what do you think of them?

Think they would be wonderful if your dog is reasonable calm, think mine would run up the walls and use them much as a mouse would use an exersise wheel.

Mine think their mesh crate (The light N Easy one) is great, but they are the sort that will settle if tethered anywhere.

I have found it great at Open and Companion shows where I was getting really fed up with having nowhere to tie a dog while in the ring with another. As I rely on lifts with friends taking a bulky metal cage proved impracticle.

Also it was great when staying in a hotel bing able to take dog in one hand, bag on shoulder and cage in other hand all in one go up to the room.

She happily slept in it while we were at the dinner dance, and after loo trip stayed in it all night. Mine are shut in a crate at home.

I would not leave a dog that is prone to chewing or one that would fret when you are out of site.

Hi Dawn

I got a portable pet home a while back, I have a Staffie (5 this year) who has never been caged and a Vizsla (year old) never caged and both got on great in the fabric tent thingy!! It is cool in the heat and warm in the cold and they love it. We got a huge one to give them both plenty of room but wouldnt be with out it now it is so easy. Easy to set up and put away and saves my arms and sandwiches!! :D

Thanks all, I think I'll get one, especially if a Staffie likes it!
