Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Junior Warrant

I was very pleased that today after winning two classes, and BOB our imported young dog Camalot's Faithful Knight, at 16 months qualified for his Junior Warrant.

He is only the third of either sex to gain this award since the 3 dogs per class rule came into being. He also did the difficult part and got more than 10 class wins with 3 dogs present at Open shows. This is thanks to an accident of fate that has meant that theyre are more young exhibitis being shown than usual, and along with one of his other owners young dogs, he was lucky enough to win a good number of these well supported classes.

He would have gained this award in February, but sadly one of his classes only had two dogs in, and he has had to wait for that one final point, being pipped to the post by one of his owners young dogs at Crufts.

Thanks! You will understand how pleased I am, when I tell you we get far fewer Junior Warant Winners than Champions!

Since they brought in the 3 dog in a class rule, and the requirement to win 10 classes at Open shows, there has only been one Junior Warant Winner owned by the lady campaigning our boy.

The male who recently qualified won under the new relaxation of the rules where 10 classes at Open shows have been reduced to I beleive 3. As at Crufts he needed two points and the jointly owned lad needed one. On that occasion he beat our boy into second, so got his JW first.

Our boy has actually won more than the 10 points at Open shows, where he has won numerous BOBs, Hound Groups and places, and Puppy Groups ad BPIS. Of course he has also won classes where no points could be counted as there were too few dogs!

He is 16 months old, and started his show carreer at 9 months old once he came out of quarantine.

Well done Brainless! Being in a smaller breed as well (Italian Greyhounds), I know how difficult and frustrating it is, hoping for 3 dogs per class!
I've worked out that my Alice needs 9 points for her JW, but this thread has made me suddenly wonder, she's 13 months old now, and gained a lot of her points before the new rule. Do we have to start from scratch, or go by the old rules, or the new ones?
Confused........

Just had another thought- do puppy groups count for any points as well?

No only breed classes. Adult Group place, BIS and BOBs or BNSC count for the new Show certificate of Merit.

You can use the new rules where you don't need 10 classes at Open shows if you are claiming the award now.

How long have you got til he is 18 months, and remember that a class win at a Champ show will give him 3 points, just so long as there are 3 in the class. What breed???

Hi Brainless,
She'll be 18 months on 27th July, so hopefully plenty of time, and we've got some (hopefully!) good judges for the next few shows.
I haven't really been trying for a JW, but added up the points just out of interest, and was surprised to find out how many she had, so we may as well go for it now!
She's an Italian Greyhound.

Remember it is vital that you keep track of how many were actually shown in the classes, as opposed to how many were entered, as it is the dogs present that count. If you haven't kept this info, then contact the show societies and confirm the figurews, as they will have the marked up catalogues. Unless of course your a good girl and mark up yours :D
