Well I read all the comments and a couple of articles and bought a Ninja dual - it was £50 less and free postage buying direct from Ninja than anyone on Amazon :-) I also bought a pack with silicon liners and cooking rack.
I have used it a couple of times so far but the booklet that came with it seems to only have a very small number of recipes and not stuff that we would eat.

Question - can anyony suggest a book that explains in very basic terms what and how to cook everyday things like sausage or casserole as opposed to fajitas (whatever they are) and similar. may be 'an old fogie' but I am 78 and OH is 87 so past the stage of experimenting.

I fear my air fryer is destined to join the deep fat fryer, the bread maker, the top o' the range food mixer and blender ( the boxes they came in were useful when moving house ) in the cupboard under the stairs and eventually the local recycling plant. I bought a Ninja somethingorother - a pricey one. It has only proved to be good at cooking burgers for the few times the grandchildren are here and the odd salmon steak. My husband I don't eat meat often.. it takes up a massive amount of worktop space and I fear it uses a helluva lot of leccy. It is awkward to clean and smelly
A passing fad no doubt.
Hope this helps

My 12 year old granddaughter uses her Mum's airfryer to do very nice roast potatoes.  Otherwise it seems to me they only use it as a glorified grill.  Personally I prefer my halogen.

I have been resisting buying one for same reasons as jan. I ve enjoyed using mamy of the things mentioned but in the end I go back to slow cooker wonderful and lives in the cupboard with the toaster and my  microwave and double oven
As its only 2 of us most of the time the smaller oven is small enough to not be too wasteful with energy. Slow cooker cost effective and some lovely casseroles and last but not least my microwave. I do all my veg in the microwave and I doubt a day goes past with out being used. For now I shall be resisting and using cupboard space for other things as I hate leaving things in the worktops
