Good evening all

I dont know if you all will remember me but i asked for advice 5 months ago about having a Rottweiler as a first time owner and me and my partner chose the Eurasier as we were told here to go for an easier breed.

A lot has happened since then we went to meet a local eurasier breeder as well as speak to the breed club.

They were lovley dogs with wonderful temperments and characters but all i could think of was the Rottweiler , i kept thinking these are lovley dogs but there not the Rottweiler. My heart is truly taken by the Rottweiler and as much as they were lovley they are not for me.

Then before Christmas i split with my partner and i have found a place of my own.

I have decided that i would prefer to gain the experience needed to own such a powerful breed and am volunteering in my local dog rescue by walking and feeding and am thinking of being a puppy walker so i can gain experience with an easier breed but without owning that breed and after being in the world of dogs for a few years and i have got a few years under my belt of experience i will then get to know people in the Rottweiler world and spend as much time as possible around Rottweilers before i get my own.

Unfortunately i ended up slipping on ice at the end of January and had fractured my left leg and am not able to do my voluntary work at the moment but once ive recovered I'll be back walking the dogs which i actually really miss.

I wanted to update as im so thankful to all who helped me 5 months ago.

Since im bored stuck at home and im dog crazy if you have any good book or video reccomendations on dog behaviour id be thankful

I share it with any one new to the breed and wanting to get one. It's very informative and created by breeders, trainers, behaviourists and a 1st time owner to give a true indication of the breed. Well worth paying out for. I have watched it and felt it's to the point about the breed.
Many watch it and realise its not the breed for them  and that's with an honest head on, others are even more it's definitely the breed for them.
Watch it and be honest with yourself afterwards.

It's a great breed but not suited to everyone, their home, their lifestyle and so on.

Thank you sue, before i watch it i will put my mind in a honest state as Rottweilers to me are stunning dogs and can easily sway my mind so i will make sure im honest with myself about everything i learn from it.

I have watched the Film this morning with breakfast and it was very interesting and it confirmed for me that Rottweilers are the breed for me but more importantly im right for the Rottweiler.

I thought it was a very interesting film with very good info on the breed but its straight to the point and honest about the breed both the good and bad.

I was looking on a Rottie facebook group im a member and i saw a long coated rottie who i thought was a cross but apparently you can get long coated Rotties i didnt knkw this is this true?
- By Ann R Smith Date 01.03.21 15:32 UTC
As in many breeds there is a long or rough coated type. Long coats are recessive to other coat types, hence you can get Rough Collies born in Smooth Collie to Smooth Collie litters, but not vicaversa

Yes you can but breeders will or should coat test to make sure they aren't putting 2 carriers together. It's not an accepted coat length
