Hello my bitch is due to be in season and has been extremely hyper which is what happens first with her but she is over weeks late to have swelling and bleeding. What can I do to bring this on I have arranged to have her mated and so I am very worried it won’t work out. I’m not sure what Solent seasons are or what I should do any help would be very appreciated!!

It happens and there really isn't much you can do. I had a bitch recently go 19 months without a season, and another have a season just 3 months after the previous.

It's called sods law.

I had planned a last litter from my champion bitch to a new import, and also was planning tontake her champion daughter to Finland for mating, she had missed to an older UK based dog, and was too closely related to available young dogs.

The plans would have meant Mum (just shy of 7) would have reared her litter before we went abroad.

What happened, Mum was 2 months late with her season, which promptly brought daughter in season a month early.

As Mum had not been easy to mate, and daughter had missed, I decided to go with both plans, hoping one would come off.

Result 2 December born litters, 4 days apart!!!

Good luck.

How old is your bitch and how many seasons has she had? I am always surprised when people with young bitches are sure when they are due in, I’ve not had any who are like clockwork.
