The main message for children I think is understanding consent based interaction with dogs - much like they themselves would not want strangers coming over and giving them hugs, neither do all dogs like it! This is also such a useful video I think to really train ourselves to actually see what the dog is experiencing in petting rather than what we wish it was experiencing!

This is harder than you might think:-).
