I wormed my pups with pancur 10% on Sunday I read the instruction wrong and didn't realise I was meant to do 3 days , can I give the other two days now , just worried as pups been having loose stools since ,
Next issue I got I read the label vets pup on it says 2,4,6,8,12 weeks yet the actual boxes states 2,5 and before leaving breeder.
We haven't seen any worms present so that's not why the vets recommend more doses or anything, any ideas ( obviously can't ring vets atm as its gone midnight)

Difficult one but i your puppies have loose stools now, I'd not worm again yet.   We wormed our puppies from 2 weeks of age using Sherleys Worming Syrup and then every two weeks to the time they went home, with their new owners given a worming history, when and with what, for their vet to see.    I recommended they dosed again at 3 months.   Mum was wormed with a normal adult wormer, when the puppies were 2 weeks.

I never saw worms after worming, after the first one who was a singleton puppy (actually one of 2 originally but one was DOA) and with him, in my ignorance, I'd not wormed mum before being mated, which I always did after him.   What he produced after being wormed was horrendous and for YEARS afterwards I couldn't touch spaghetti.

I think, if I were you, I'd perhaps get a stool sample from one of the puppies (matters not which) and get it checked for normal worms, and Giardia too.   So right now, that's a no, don't worm again, yet.

Some wormers only deal with more mature worm stages and need doing every two weeks.

Did you worm the bitch for last three weeks of pregnancy?

If so I'd be less concerned about pups only having one day.

Did you do only 1/2 ml per kg for pups?

With Panacur unless you have a heavy worm burden of mature  worms you won't see them in their poo, as they will be desolved, and this may cause  some looseness.

I'd give it two weeks  and give the proper dose, and then do them at 7 weeks, so their bodies get over the worming before they leave and advise new owners worm at 11 weeks, so it doesn't coincide with vaccinations.

I made the same mistake by not reading the paste instructions correctly(puppy brain). I wormed at the adult dose for weight & only the one day  I decided not to do any of the remaining days & it never affected the pups.  I would go by the manufactures instructions & do the 2, 5 etc, as your doing it over a 3 day period rather than every 2 weeks which I believe is for other makes of wormer of only a day dose.

Hi I just got back from vets she's checked pups over said they look and acting fine , she advised me to do the pancur again but at 4 weeks she also checked the mum out and said again she look healthy , albeit abit worn
Luckily enough one of the pups pooped on command at the vets and she said it seems wht she would expect from a milk only fed pup , it's soft not runny but she hve me some pro kolin when they produce runny ones
I wormed bitch before stud and again at day 43 she was also wormed when pups were
The vets said that unless they stop feeding,  lose weight or become un pup like ? To take them back she's rules gardia out at this stage( I might add without test)

Don't worry. With my 1st pup (singleton litter) I didn't realise that the ring had to be pushed to the bottom of the tube (doesn't say that on the instructions) and I syringed pretty much half the tube into her. I rang the emergency vet in a panic and she simply said as it is a wide covering wormer it is gentle and wouldn't cause more than runny poos and tummy ache. If there were any real side effects she suggested probiotics to help settle the tummy and not to worm the other 3 days. Of course we were to take her in if she was lethargic or unwell in any other way. As long as there weren't an adverse effects we would be ok to worm as normal next time.
