When I was about 4 (30 odd years ago) I remember going in to town on saturdays as it was market day and people would bring folding chairs and sit outside the Lords electrical store to watch big daddy wrestle. They'd have sandwiches and flasks of tea and as the bus station was opposite, the conductors would wander over on their breaks....those were the days. Back when mum would give you a custard cream biscuit in one hand to shut you up and hold your other hand through the crowds.
Obviously I won't be watching the wrestling, mainly because the study is at the complete opposite end of the house

but usually when I do I also make oooh and ahh and ouch noises...I also scream 'how fake is that?!?' a whole lot... I'm not punching the air or throwing things so that's a plus. Still it's the only thing we pre order in our house and I can't really begrudge the 6'5" bearded wife (sorry - husband) one night a month vegging out on front of the tele, in bed, can I?
Now a days, I am the coolest teacher in school because I know who John Cena is and actually wave my hand doing his signature 'you can't see me' move across my face when I spot a child doing something they shouldn't be doing during playtime - usually they burst out laughing, stop what they were doing and go and do something just as silly somewhere else! They know I watch cricket and support the Irish during the world cup which mostly results in looks of horror and 'but you're Indian!'.....
I do watch the horse events and sometimes the snooker but will draw the line at football, rubgy, golf and dare I say it - darts! Going to wimbledon costs a fortune and there's no way I could justify spending that much - even sitting on henman hill or murray mount cost at least a weekly shop! But then, tennis isn't something I'm a huge fan of - there's something not quite right watching the Williams sisters grunting and getting sweaty! I prefer to watch my sport on tv, with fans on, in my pants, replays at the ready and the commentary....much nicer :)
