Yes almost that time...New balls please:grin:.
I enjoy the glorious weeks of Wimbledon the hype, the atmosphere, Murray Mount/Hen man Hill, the underdog beating a seeded player.
Will Murray return on form and grab a second Wimbledon title? Or a new face be a shock champion?
I know in the past tennis players had more of a colourful personality McEnroe,Nastase,Becker,Cash etc missis a little. We also used to see more of the veterans games where have they gone too?

I'd like to see our seeded players have a good go and get further this year. Also hoping the rain stays away but loved that final Monday and people's open day

Who cares about the tennis - it's STRAWBERRIES AND CREAM season!
- By saxonjus Date 20.06.16 09:53 UTC Upvotes 2
Lol true but I have to substitute Strawberries  (yuk) for Raspberries yummy.  Oh and forgot it's Pimms season too:lol:
- By Jodi Date 20.06.16 09:55 UTC
Ah, Pimms, now you're talking:lol:
- By saxonjus Date 20.06.16 09:59 UTC
I love Pimms, preparing the cucumber, mint, fruitiness the jug and ice then Pimms and lemonade mmmmmmmmmmm.  Now have I got any Pimms in?
- By Jodi Date 20.06.16 10:05 UTC

Wimbledon soon
:cry::sad::cry::sad:
We haven't got a yawn face on the emoticons! Still, each to their own preference
- By poodlenoodle Date 20.06.16 10:27 UTC Upvotes 2
Nevermind tatty, we can just load up on pimms and strawberries and we won't notice if it's dull

I hope Andy Murray does well but dread him being interviewed. He manages to make tennis look reasonably interesting but sound deathly dull! But then it must be hard when the media run over before you've got your breath and immediately stick a camera up your nose and demand a sound bite.

Shame that the English haven't got any tennis players.   Shame there are no personalities in tennis anymore.

> Shame that the English haven't got any tennis players.

Oh you mean that guy who is Scottish until he manages to win

And actually there are a small number of truly 'English' players coming through now.   Personally I prefer to look of them as BRITISH.   If at all.

"I hope Andy Murray does well but dread him being interviewed. He manages to make tennis look reasonably interesting but sound deathly dull! But then it must be hard when the media run over before you've got your breath and immediately stick a camera up your nose and demand a sound bite. "

This sticking a mic. in ya face immediately, in other sports events not just tennis, drives me nuts.   And then there's the quality of the questions.  You can see from Murray's face what he thinks about that!!   He's not a naturally outgoing person so for me, it's all about what he does in a match, than what he doesn't do in the post-match interviews.   He does have a very yawn boring voice though.

I can't wait!! Was listening to Queens on FiveLive much of the time and I'm so thrilled he won the title, and nobody else has ever won Queens 5 times either! I do hope he does well at Wimbledon. And I hope our other British players also do well, Kyle Edmund seems quite promising? I agree poor Andy doesn't make the best subject for interviews, but as someone else said, they stick the mike in your face when all you surely want is to go and cool down and rest. And of course if he says anything at all it just gets twisted by all the Scottish versus British idiots looking for trouble. As far as I am concerned he is BOTH!!! He's much better if he's relaxed and just chatting about his dogs for example!

I'm enjoying the football and have got a bottle of rose on ice for tonight.
- By Jodi Date 20.06.16 13:21 UTC Upvotes 2
We're totally the opposite over football on this house, it's driving us up the wall as every channel seems to be about football and all our favourite programs have been postponed or are suddenly moved to a different time so that they get missed.

Heard a good quote a out football the other day, something along the lines of watching millionaires chasing a bag of wind and trying to be actors.

Sorry football lovers
- By St.Domingo Date 20.06.16 13:26 UTC
I just enjoy a good game of football, I don't care what they earn or what they do off pitch.
I must admit to be slightly narked over messing around with Corrie !!!
- By gsdowner Date 20.06.16 13:52 UTC
It's pay per view wrestling in our house tonight...make of that what you will
- By saxonjus Date 20.06.16 14:09 UTC
My nan used to love the wrestling on a Saturday afternoon, Giant Haystack and Mick McManus? She was only 4ft 4 but sat with whitebait sarnie and pummelling her fists at the tv every Saturday afternoon!

I noticed the www wrestlers had had to change name few years back. Loved watching them sometimes with the boys, the outfits, show entrances such prima donna's sometimes. ..

I'll watch most sports save for golf, formula  1 and snooker no no no just boring. I'm looking forward to my first 20/20 live match to watch on the 1st! Love the atmosphere of going to sports events. Hoping go see horse trials at Bleinham too
- By Frankie66 [gb] Date 20.06.16 14:32 UTC
I love the tennis, years ago I went to Wimbledon on a school trip and saw John McEnroe play.  It was back in the days when they had a standing section on centre court, going back a good few decades .  Loved it.  I think we all have our favourites, but I'm always routing for Andy
- By saxonjus Date 20.06.16 14:36 UTC
Love Wimbledon, not had chance yet to go in person. I like McEnroe and enjoy his commentary now. After Henman and Murry's who will be next to claim/name Murry's Mount?
- By Tommee Date 20.06.16 15:17 UTC
Gawd I hate single sports that dominant the TV Channels for hours on end. Don't mind highlights or full games of national teams, but don't want to watch"foreigners" playing other"foreigners" ad nausea

Love the variety of the Olympics, Commonwealth etc games, but not just one sport.
- By lkj [gb] Date 20.06.16 15:53 UTC
Andy Murray regards himself as 100% Scottish.  He said so when he voted in their referendum.  I've no quarrel with that.  I cringe at the interviews after they have won.  I usually turn the television off before then.
My favourites were Andy Roddick, Lleyton Hewitt and Pat Cash.
- By suejaw Date 20.06.16 16:05 UTC
Ooh now you're talking love Andy Roddick. Have a soft spot for Roger and Novak too.
- By RozzieRetriever Date 20.06.16 16:32 UTC
I'm tolerating the football as I used to teach Gary Cahill and a nicer chap you couldn't wish to meet.
Unfortunately the match tonight clashes with ringcraft so I will miss it.
- By saxonjus Date 20.06.16 17:17 UTC Upvotes 1
Wow you have lots of stories i bet RozzieRetriever you could recall of Gary Cahill! I miss Ivan a lot at Wimbledon along with Becker and Agassi. I recall the will he? Won't he wear white at Wimbledon for Agassi!
I loved watching Gower in the cricket during summer holidays and I adore Olympics and Tour de France (Oh loves cycling)

I bet the interviewer and the interviewee both dislike the silly questions they have to ask in the stick it under your nose mic interview.

Murry's proud of being Scottish just as I'm proud of being English...

Plus go England good luck for tonight
- By suejaw Date 20.06.16 18:05 UTC
Im.missing ring craft to watch it. Not sure that's going to be the best option but I also can't be bothered with the drive lol

When I was about 4 (30 odd years ago) I remember going in to town on saturdays as it was market day and people would bring folding chairs and sit outside the Lords electrical store to watch big daddy wrestle. They'd have sandwiches and flasks of tea and as the bus station was opposite, the conductors would wander over on their breaks....those were the days. Back when  mum would give you a custard cream biscuit in one hand to shut you up and hold your other hand through the crowds.

Obviously I won't be watching the wrestling, mainly because the study is at the complete opposite end of the house   but usually when I do I also make oooh and ahh and ouch noises...I also scream 'how fake is that?!?' a whole lot... I'm not punching the air or throwing things so that's a plus. Still it's the only thing we pre order in our house and I can't really begrudge the 6'5" bearded wife (sorry - husband) one night a month vegging out on front of the tele, in bed, can I?

Now a days, I am the coolest teacher in school because I know who John Cena is and actually wave my hand doing his signature 'you can't see me' move across my face when I spot a child doing something they shouldn't be doing during playtime - usually they burst out laughing, stop what they were doing and go and do something just as silly somewhere else! They know I watch cricket and support the Irish during the world cup which mostly results in looks of horror and 'but you're Indian!'.....

I do watch the horse events and sometimes the snooker but will draw the line at football, rubgy, golf and dare I say it - darts! Going to wimbledon costs a fortune and there's no way I could justify spending that much - even sitting on henman hill or murray mount cost at least a weekly shop! But then, tennis isn't something I'm a huge fan of - there's something not quite right watching the Williams sisters grunting and getting sweaty! I prefer to watch my sport on tv, with fans on, in my pants, replays at the ready and the commentary....much nicer :)
- By RozzieRetriever Date 20.06.16 20:57 UTC
If I watch football, the team I'm supposed to be supporting always loses so I feel I'm doing the country a favour by giving it a miss!
- By suejaw Date 20.06.16 21:44 UTC
Want England knocked out.  Really happy Wales have done so well. Really supporting the Germans for their play and anything which the BBC show because I get to watch and listen to Thierry..

I'm so unpatriotic tbh.

Picture the scene if you can.............going back some 55-60 years, when I was a kid I lived with a great-aunt, she was a retired head teacher as were 4-5 of her close friends, all unmarried.
'Aunty' (Honorary title) Margaret who lived on her own was a typical retired head-mistress of that period BUT you did not disturb her or visit without very good reason on a Saturday afternoon as she would be sitting in front of her (black & white) TV watching the wrestling, shouting at the Ref, Pallo, McManus, Big Daddy, Giant Haystacks etc and really letting it rip..............
- By gsdowner Date 20.06.16 22:48 UTC
Believe me...there are people who get like that over corrie every night...!

(Never saw the appeal myself)
- By saxonjus Date 21.06.16 07:14 UTC
My nan was exactly the same!  I used to think Dickie Davies with his white streak in his hair used to be part of the Mallet family!

Sue jaw I do like Thierry too.

Yay! MURRAY won Wimbledon.
- By LucyDogs [gb] Date 11.07.16 11:01 UTC
I know!! Thrilled to bits here, a fantastic set of matches from start to finish. And the mixed doubles and wheelchair doubles too, what a great tournament!
