Thanks klb, I'm leaning towards Friday now as well.

I've got the info on cytology, it's another vets about 25min away. There are 6 vets there & im not sure which is the one to see as she didn't specify - I wouldn't trust just any vet to interpret it. I just am reluctant to schlep her to another vet appointment - but if cytology can give us meaningful results and if we'd need to stay here into next week, then I could.  It's kinda like 'how much more should we throw at this and when do we say 'enough' enough, we've done our best'.

So now trying to decide whether to do that Fri morning or just mate on Friday and keep fingers crossed

Well that's what I had always thought but she was definitely not in season at the time but 2 of my others were. I can only assume as both had never been bred before or since it was just play that went to far.

No but I do still have 1 of the pups she's now 9 years old.

I would settle for Friday and hope for best. As you didn't get an ovulation reading there is nothing definite but for the average girl I think you will be perfectly OK X

That sounds reasonable, would give prime live sperm throughout the time period, and less performance anxiety for the Saturday when you'd be rushed..

Today we are getting SO MUCH humping of blankets, it's quite ridiculous. 

The two of us (myself and my OH) are here, trying to work and read, here, with this sexually frustrated dog, scraping a blanket up between her legs, with loads of pelvic thrusting.  I've tried to explain to her that this isn't quite her role, in the process...   I hope she still feels the same tomorrow!!

Two of my girls are still humping each other, while the 3rd is looking on in disgust and taking herself away. It's got to the point where the dominant girl is cocking her leg to pee! I think my boy will have his nose put seriously out of joint when he comes back at this rate - not only did he miss out on  a jolly good time but he's been replaced by a girl!

We had another successful mating today, with another 20min tie (Day 15). 

On her first mating, she didn't experience any discomfort until the tie.  Today, she yelped as soon as he stuck it in there(!), but stood.  She was still flagging and willing for it to happen (till it did!), though.  Both times, mating happened almost immediately they met each other.

So, in summary, what do you reckon our chances are here...

Idexx Day 5 - 1.1nmol
Idexx Day 11 - 4.9nmol

1st mating 10am Day 12 - successful, 20 min tie
2nd mating 3pm Day 15 - successful, 20 min tie

I am trying to work out when we are covered until, if sperm lives 5-7 days and eggs take 48hrs after ovulation before they can be fertilised... I'm think we're covered till Monday (Day 18) ovulation if sperm lives 5 days, Weds (Day 20) ovulation, if sperm lives 7 days... I'll be watching closely to see when everything seems to be 'over', and hoping it is pretty soon as then it means we probably hit the spot.

Anyway, now we just keep everything crossed.  I have been banned by my OH from doing a progesterone test when we get home and then wanting to rush back again

Only reason for a progesterone test would be if she's had a few misses and you want to make sure her levels remain high 2 weeks post mating.

Good luck with the next 4 weeks and keep her calm around day 17 post mating for both of them.

What is important about day 17 post mating Suejaw?

Its when the embryos embed in the uterus. Any form of stress will likely prevent this from happening and thus no pregnancy.

Okay - so that's 17 days after first mating until 17 days after last mating. Will be keeping an eye on mine too then :) thanks.

I hadn't even thought about it until 2 misses and then had a lengthy chat with a local repro vet. He really was so helpful and made lots of changes

I'm feeling rather depressed today - might be nothing but my girl was rolled over by her daughter, who ran at her at full speed whilst out on their walk today. Mum was minding her own business and exploring the hedgerow when the speeding bullet came out of nowhere and barges in to her, throwing her over and trampling her under foot.....I know it could be nothing but I also know that if she doesn't take this time, I'll always wonder whether today's events were the cause :( she is 10 days post 1st mating and and 8 days post 2nd. So much for keeping her safe by keeping her close...

I wouldn't worry about that, or think that was the cause if she doesn't take - this early on, implantation hasn't even happened and the cells are so so so small, they are incredibly well protected just being inside mum's body.  It's in later pregnancy when the pups are much bigger, that a knock can have a bad effect.  So I think you'll be just fine!
