Others will disagree but I have never bothered with scanning. For the simple reason it only confirms, or not, a pregnancy at the time of the scan. Not that the bitch will carry to term and it's not accurate. As others will tell you when they get more puppies than anticipated! Just plan on her being pregnant - by 7 weeks you'll see puppies moving around in any case. Eve if she's a maiden bitch, if he's a proven stud dog, and she was receptive at the time she was mated, it's 99.9% likely she conceived - unlike with humans, it's far less hit and miss.
Yes, you might have a need to know ahead of time so you can clear your appointments and provided the scan is accurate, it might help to know numbers, but the fact is scanning isn't accurate and as said, only means she's pregnant, or not, at the time of the scan.
I have had the occasional false pregnancy in my bitches, but usually not until after the due date.
Even if I got a no, I'd still be watching and waiting come 62 - 63 days!!!
Just be aware, sick dogs to to the vet - do you want to risk her picking up some infection at this point? Or stressing her out? Again, I'd just wait, make plans, set up your whelping area/box and keep fingers crossed. Don't let her eat a lot - once she's whelped and you know how many puppies she has to cater for, then you up her food. Just make sure she has a good quality food and keep her on the lean side - her puppies will take all they need before and after birth!
