I have spent a huge amount of time and effort this past week trying to find a suitable insurance policy.....and am beginning to lose the will to live!
The difficulty that I'm having is that many providers seem to have a blanket exclusion for dogs that are "used for breeding".
Whilst I consider it perfectly reasonable to exclude those conditions that are specifically related to breeding (eg. C section, eclampsia, etc.), I can't understand how having the occasional litter of puppies would make my bitch a higher risk for non-breeding health issues, and why this should make her non-insurable. In fact, as I do plan to breed from her, it means that she's health tested for just about every possible testable condition, and holds excellent results, which, I would have thought would make her a lesser than average risk.
I have one litter every 2 to 3 years when I want to keep a puppy myself and to keep my line going, though I obviously do sell the rest of the puppies.......does this constitute commercial breeding in insurance terms? It does appear to do so.
What do other show/hobby breeders, who have the occasional litter do? and can anyone suggest an insurance company that would offer cover under my circumstances?

Pet plan and the KC off the top of my head.
Avoid AF as they have null and voided my policy because I was trying: in their policy it says to notify them if thinking of it, I asked if I notified them would that make a difference and they said no they would then cancel said policy
