
Committees should definitely NOT be "hush hush" in any way whatsoever; the meetings should be open to all members of the club, the minutes of the meeting noted down and sent to all members or printed in the club newsletter.
What it will entail depends on your role on the committee. There can be anything from chairman to secretary, treasurer etc etc to just a "plain" committee members. Those just on the committee would not normally have a particular role except to attend the meetings, vote on issues, give your opinion etc. Often volunteers may be asked for to carry out various tasks at the club shows but then it is up to you to volunteer or not, and of course be available for anyone interested in the breed to contact for advice as your name will be listed as a committee member -although most people will naturally contact the secretary in the first instance.
