>Your best bet is to look for a pug stud dog from a line of self-whelpers - they are about.
> I have 2 two year old Pug bitches I mated one with another Pug and she needed an emergency c.section I'll not let her breed again. What i'm asking is, is my Pug more likely to self whelp if mated with a Chihuahua?
>Choosing a stud from a self whelping line is not likely to make a difference to a bitch he matesh. He might Possibly pass on genes for easy whelping to his offspring so a self whelping line could be developed but wont prevent a bitch from needing a cesar.
> Very, very true, and well said. And I have spent many years perfecting my self whelping line, this with plenty of canine knowledge (and common sense.) It is unbelievable how often people have asked to use my stud dog - because they think that he will ensure that he produces small puppies for their bitch. I have tried to explain why this is not the case, and then people say that they are happy to try!!! They think I'm spiteful when I still refuse. It's when they remind me that someone else will be happy to take their money that I realise they really have no breeding knowledge. But I can't have their bitches death on my conscience.
