Topic Other Boards / Foo / Trying to change broadband provider - WTF!
- By Dill [gb] Date 22.10.14 10:58 UTC
Currently with AOHELL and trying to change provider.

Because it's supposed to be so much easier...

Signed up with new provider.    Paid by credit card for first month to speed things up.

New provider gives us a date for switch - lovely.

NOT

Date came and went,  no notification of switch so we phone them.   Switch was cancelled because we're being migrated to TalkTalk -  WTF?

Called AOHELL to find out what's going on.

They said we authorised.    Apparently saying NO ABSOLUTELY NOT  is authorisation.    We instruct them to cancel migration immediately,  which they eventually agree to.   And we request confirmation of this by letter/email.   (No email or letter comes.)

Back to new provider to reinstate migration,  given new switch date -  lovely

NOT

New switch date arrives and still not switched.   Phone new provider to be told all cancelled because of 'tag on the line' by TalkTalk  ???

Phone AOHELL again to clarify.   They say no tag on line,  and we need to get a new MAC because the first one only lasts a month.    We request NEW MAC  and they again try to persuade us to go over to TalkTalk -  categorically NO.

Anyone else had this kind of cr*p?

We're moving because they have never sorted out our dodgy broadband connection in 13 years.   It now keeps dropping out so much it's difficult to do anything.   If we get a phonecall it drops out for hours,  or days you guess.    Even without a phonecall it drops out every minute or so.   Occasionally we get a whole hour of connection,  but not often.

No advice to offer just hope someone's got some advice to get it sorted - we'll miss your anecdotes and drier than the Sahara wit if you lose connection!

Yes !, I had a problem getting away from TalkTalk, they were so bad they actually hung up when I requested a new MAC code so I could shift to BT.
It was a while ago now, and I can't quite remember how I got round it, I have a feeling BT sorted it for me but it did mean a new phone number as I was doing a BB/phone combo.

Plus net have suggested that the only way this may eventually be resolved is to change our phone number too.   But the problem there is that it's also his business number.    So many things will have to be redone.

Basically,  TT company are behaving illegally.

There appears to be no way to contact talktalk to get the tag on line cleared up without a customer number which we don't have.

And round in circles we go.

I will be contacting our MP about this.   It's fraud and misselling at the very least.

Imagine if you went to Waitrose for your weekly shop only to be told at the till that Tesco had a 'tag on your bank account'  and you had to shop at tesco!

BT are as bad.    OH rang to  check  who our phoneline is with,  still with them so TT not appropriated that.   But then he tried to check about the tag on line and the BT person went straight into trying to sell him broadband!    No way would they stop.   In the end,  he hung up

Agressive business practise right there!    So will be reporting that too.

But OFCON will do nothing except add our complaints to the list.    What good is a bl**dy list?

Wonder what my chances are of getting a successful 38 degrees petition going?

Part of the problem I think is the call centres being based in India, they seem to be able to do what the hell they like with little come back.
Have you looked on Money Saving Experts forum ?, there are loads of posts about TT and how people resolved the problem, sometimes it's just a matter of knowing the right phone number and what to to say to whom.

Yes

Been on Mse forum and a few others.   No useful info.

Some similar scenarios but just moaning posts.

Tried to join MSE forum but gave up,  as it won't progress through the sign up page.

Have left a poston TT FB page and waiting to see if any reply

You'd think the government wouldn't want to allow criminal activity by large companies.    It's a very bad reputation for the UK

Also very bad situation when BBC1 has a program called Rip Off Britain specifically aimed at large companies.
