Hi I know there was some chat about beds a few weeks ago but can't find -just did a search and came up with the Michael Jackson thread which distracted me...
The corgi has a daytime flat padded mat on which he gnaws things/eats his treats. He can stretch out on this and seems to like it for crashing as well as playing. He gets on it when we ask him to. We also got him a much thicker bed from the petshop which he used to sleep on in his crate- I suspect it is harder to stretch on because it is much thicker but I thought it looked quite comfy myself. Now he sleeps in our room at night- this was not our initial policy but it seems to be working out ok; he is a very quiet sleeper and only has a fox induced barkathon about once a week which [most of the time] is silenced by "Quiet!". I know that dogs move around in the night but none of his moves involve sleeping on his own bed - even if he gets on it when asked it is not for very long. He will go only for the old sheepskin rug or the oriental rug which is thin. We tried putting his day mat up there but that has also been rejected.
We would quite like to localise the sleeping areas so we don't accidentally step on him or have to pick up lots of hair i.e. get him to like his bed!
Any ideas?
